‘We prefer not to take risks’: Ernesto Valverde insists Lionel Messi is ‘fine’ despite not starting for Barcelona in Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Madrid due to minor leg injury

  • Lionel Messi played sub role in Barcelona’s Copa del Rey draw with Real Madrid
  • Boss Ernesto Valverde confirmed it was due to leg injury but insisted he was fine
  • Lucas Vazquez handed Real Madrid a lead before Malcom’s second-half leveller

Press Association Reporter

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde insisted Lionel Messi‘s minor leg injury was not serious despite it forcing him to start the 1-1 Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Madrid on the bench.

Messi was introduced to the last-four match only as a second-half substitute by Valverde.

The Argentinian was nursing a minor leg injury sustained in the 2-2 La Liga draw against Valencia last weekend.

‘He had some discomfort and we decided it was for the best.’

Malcolm, who deputised for Messi, impressed for the home side, netting Barcelona’s equaliser after 57 minutes.

But Valverde’s side must now score at least one goal at the Bernabeu to reach the final.

‘We have to score, so the tie is open,’ he added.

Republic of Mauritius- Blockchain Technology and its impact on Digital Transformation of Mauritius

0

[ad_1]

GIS – 07 February, 2019: A half-day workshop on ‘Blockchain Technology and its impact on Digital Transformation’ aimed at shedding light on the concept of blockchain and how it can be used across sectors to trigger the digital transformation of Mauritius, was held yesterday afternoon, at the University of Mauritius (UOM) Auditorium, the Core Building, in Ebène.

Organised by the Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation in collaboration with the UOM, the themes addressed were: What is blockchain? ; and, How does blockchain technology assist in the digital transformation?  The resource person was Mr Bojan Hadzisejdic, Blockchain Expert, Cotrugli Business School, Republic of Croatia.

In her address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation, Dr (Mrs) R. Y. Moorghen, pointed out that the Digital Mauritius 2030 Strategic Plan was launched last year to chart the way forward with the aim to further boost the ICT sector.  The plan clearly outlines the major role of emerging technologies like blockchain technology, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and others engines of growth for the sector.

According to Dr Moorghen, over the past few decades a lot of investment has been injected in the digitalisation of public services of Mauritius.  However, she indicated, there comes a time where it is necessary to reinforce the layers of trust to be able to have an even higher adoption of ICT in public sector and even higher take up of e-services by citizens.

She recalled that in October 2018, the Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation had selected Cotrugli Business School consultants following a procurement exercise with the aim to develop a blockchain strategy for Government.

These consultants have had a number of meetings with various Ministries and departments, the ICT industry associations and other partners so as to take the pulse of ICT activities in the public sector and to devise an approach for tapping on blockchain technology given the robustness of the technology.

Following meetings with different stakeholders, the consultants have prepared a Blockchain Strategy which clearly states that Mauritius is ready for its blockchain journey and that various services could avail of this technology, said Dr Moorghen.  The ones that have been prioritised are the issuance of PINs for property, the issuance of Digital birth certificates and the securing of transaction logs on the Info Highway, Mauritius’s national data exchange layer.

The consultants have also proposed the setting up of a national permissioned blockchain which will be open to public and private sectors in a phased manner.  This chain, which has been named MoChain, will be a local blockchain and will work on the latest concept which is proof of authority instead of proof of work.

Bayern Munich and Juventus ‘eye Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson’ amid impressive loan spell

  • The two European giants have been joined by Arsenal and Spurs in watching him

Bayern Munich and Juventus are tracking Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The 21-year-old has impressed while on loan at Sheffield United, helping the Blades put together a push for automatic promotion, and that has alerted a number of top sides.

Arsenal and Tottenham have also been keeping an eye on Henderson, according to ESPN.

Henderson signed a two-year contract with United in the summer. The Old Trafford side can also extend the deal by another 12 months thanks to an option in the contract.

It followed an impressive season at Shrewsbury, where he was named in the League One team of the year and was integral as they reached the play-off final.

The England Under-21 international has settled well at Bramall Lane, with Chris Wilder’s side challenging Norwich and Leeds for automatic promotion.

United do not want to lose the goalkeeper, who joined them when he was 14 from Carlisle.

They now face a challenge though, with Henderson on Bayern and Juventus’ radar.

Bayern have started keeping tabs on English youngsters and made a series of bids for Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi in January.

There is a belief at United that Henderson could be their potential No 1 in the future, although he is behind David de Gea, Sergio Romero and Lee Grant in the current pecking order.

Rodrigues : l’alerte cyclonique levée

0

[ad_1]
