West Ham join a host of clubs in the transfer race for Real Valladolid defender Mohammed Salisu

West Ham are the latest club to check on Real Valladolid defender Mohammed Salisu.

The 21-year-old centre-back has drawn enquiries from Southampton, Everton and to a lesser degree Manchester United.

French side Rennes have been pushing to sign him but the Ghana-born Salisu is eager to move to the Premier League.

West Ham are said to be interested in Real Valladolid defender Mohammed Salisu

He has a £10.8million release clause which makes him attractive to West Ham who are keen to bolster their defence but are unsure of their budget at this stage.

Southampton are understood to have made an offer below the release clause while Everton have Salisu in mind as an option alongside Lille’s Gabriel Magalhaes and Jean Clair Todibo of Barcelona.

The 21-year-old is also on the radar of Southampton, Everton and Manchester United

West Ham need a centre-back and full-back as well as a midfielder and forward. Their Premier league status will dictate their transfer business but they are wary of interest from rival clubs in Declan Rice, particularly, and Issa Diop.

Meanwhile, West Ham are expected to pay the outstanding £5.4m owed to Eintracht Frankfurt on the transfer of striker Seb Haller.

The Bundesliga side had lodged a complaint with FIFA after West Ham missed their May 15 instalment which prompted the opening of an investigation.

Haller was in training on Saturday and is in contention to return from a hip injury against Newcastle United on Sunday.
