Jack Laugher wins bronze medal in men’s 3m springboard final with strong display… as Team GB diving team-mate James Heatly finishes in ninth with China’s Xie Siyi taking gold in Tokyo
Jack Laugher put in another excellent display to win the bronze medal for Team GB in the men’s 3m springboard final in Tokyo.
Laugher, 26, won three metre synchro gold in Rio de Janeiro five years ago, and was looking to bounce back after failing to defend his title with Dan Goodfellow earlier in these Games.
And after the Yorkshireman showed good form in the morning event with his six dives good enough to secure third place in the semi-final, he went on to seal his third Olympic medal with 87.75 in his final dive.

Team GB team-mate James Heatly meanwhile finished in after a strong showing in the semi-final on his Olympics debut.
China’s two-time world champion Xie Siyi however took a comfortable gold medal, backing up the gold he won with Wang Zongyuan in the men’s synchronised 3m springboard final earlier in the week.
Compatriot Zongyuan meanwhile took the silver medal after after grabbing 102.60, moving him above Laugher.
