Sabri Lamouchi facing an uncertain future as Nottingham Forest boss after his side’s capitulation

Sabri Lamouchi faces an uncertain future as Nottingham Forest boss after his side’s capitulation cost them a shot at promotion.

Forest needed only one point from their final two games against Stoke and Barnsley to secure a play-off place in the Championship, but they lost both games and the 4-1 home defeat by Stoke meant Swansea pipped them to sixth place on goal difference.

Lamouchi signed a new two-year deal only a month when the play-offs looked a certainty, but Sportsmail understands Forest’s woeful end to the campaign has cast doubt on his position.

It is thought the Frenchman was given no guarantees when he discussed the future with the club hierarchy in the days after the Stoke game.

The City Ground has not been a comfortable place for managers in recent years, with Lamouchi the first to complete a full season at the helm since Billy Davies did so in 2010-11.

Lamouchi is the fourth permanent boss Forest have had since Evangelos Marinakis, who also owns Olympiacos, took control of the club in May 2017.
