Hilton has signed an agreement with Tradewinds Corporation Berhad to expand Hilton’s flagship brand in Malaysia with Hilton Burau Bay Resort Langkawi.

The 251-room resort will be Hilton’s second property in Langkawi, complementing The Nautilus Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, expected to open in 2023. The resort will also join Hilton’s established portfolio of hotels in Malaysia, where it currently operates 13 properties across three brands, with another nine in the pipeline.

The resort marks Tradewinds Corporation Berhad’s fourth property with Hilton, following Hilton Petaling Jaya, Hilton Kuching, and the recently announced Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur.

“Langkawi is a tropical paradise famed for its natural beauty – home to South East Asia’s first UNESCO World Geopark and a popular upscale destination for international and domestic travelers alike. We are delighted to expand our long-standing partnership with Tradewinds Corporation Berhad and bring Hilton’s flagship brand and world-class hospitality to Langkawi,” says Guy Phillips the senior vice president, development, Asia and Australasia, Hilton.

Nestled in Burau Bay along Langkawi’s western coastline, the resort boasts stunning, unobstructed views of the Straits of Malacca, and enjoys a 600-meter beachfront with white sands and clear waters. It is surrounded by untouched coastal rainforests, and overlooks the majestic Gunung Mat Cincang, Seratosa Island, and Burau Island. It is a 15-minute drive from the Langkawi Airport and 40 minutes from the Kuah Jetty, and within close proximity to popular tourist attractions such as the Langkawi Cable Car & Sky Bridge, Pantai Cenang, and Kuah Town.

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with Hilton through the upcoming debut of Hilton Burau Bay Resort Langkawi. The resort marks our fourth collaboration with Hilton, underscoring the strong synergies between our companies. We are confident that Hilton Burau Bay Resort Langkawi will be a fine addition to this popular leisure destination and will be well-received by locals and international visitors alike,” said Muhammad Zainal Ashikin, managing director and group chief executive officer, Tradewinds Corporation Berhad.

Hilton Burau Bay Resort Langkawi will feature an executive lounge and five dining concepts including an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant and a pool bar. Guests can look forward to unwinding at the award-winning eforea spa, indoor and outdoor pools, or enjoy a workout at the fitness center, basketball and tennis courts. For guests looking to host social events and celebrations, the resort also offers an events space spanning approximately 800 square meters, and a ballroom of approximately 400 square meters.

“For over a century, Hilton Hotels & Resorts has set the benchmark for hospitality around the world. With the resort’s prime location, thoughtful design, plentiful dining options and signature Hilton hospitality, I am confident that Hilton Burau Bay Resort Langkawi will raise the bar for exceptional guest experiences here on the island and across the country,” said Alexandra Jaritz, senior vice president, brand management, Asia Pacific, Hilton.

AFL fans mock embarrassing social media stuff involving Saints teammates Paddy Ryder and Brad Hill

AFL fans mock embarrassing social media stuff up that BUTCHERS Paddy Ryder’s retirement announcement by using an image of a totally different player

  • St Kilda ruckman Paddy Ryder announced his retirement from AFL on Saturday
  • Footy on Nine’s social media lauded his 17-year career, but produced an error
  • Sent out content online about Ryder’s career – with image of teammate Brad Hill

Eagle-eyed AFL fans have called out an embarrassing gaffe from the Footy on Nine social media team which butchered the retirement announcement of St Kilda veteran Paddy Ryder.

The hard-nosed ruckman, 34, announced his decision to hang up his boots to teammates ahead of Saints’ captain’s run on Saturday morning.

Ryder also previously played for Essendon and Port Adelaide across 17 seasons in the AFL.

Footy on Nine attempted to tweet the news soon after it broke – only to run an image of Ryder’s teammate Brad Hill next to the career achievements of Ryder.

‘Wow, this is not great,’ tweeted one AFL supporter, with another stating ‘gee running the social media can be a tough job.’

The tweet was hastily deleted on Footy on Nine’s social media channels.

Ryder has played 281 career games and will chase a Sherrin for the final time on Sunday at Marvel Stadium versus the Swans.

The East Fremantle product was drafted to the Bombers through the 2005 National Draft as the seventh overall selection.

He joined the Power in 2015 and then became a Saint in 2020.

‘It’s been a really tough decision to come to, but I know it’s the right one,’ Ryder said when reflecting on his pending retirement.

‘I’ve been lucky to live out my childhood dream, playing at three great clubs with some amazing players, including my cousin Bradley.

‘I’ve loved the role it’s enabled me to play in the community and the platform it’s given me to help educate people about Indigenous culture.

‘Playing in games like the Dreamtime at the ‘G, and this year running out with six of my brother boys against Hawthorn – they’re the moments I’ll remember forever.

‘I want to thank all my current and former teammates, coaches and staff, particularly Kevin Sheedy, Matthew Knights, Mark Thompson, James Hird, Ken Hinkley and Brett Ratten.  ‘Thank you for giving me the opportunity to do my favourite thing week in, week out.’

Kids gets to play and learn with Mini Club Med + vacations

The post Kids gets to play and learn with Mini Club Med + vacations appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily.

Club Med launches the evolution of its Kids Club (previously known as Mini Club Med®) to Mini Club Med + in Bali. This brand-new science-based framework inspired by Positive Education offers a fun-filled experience where play, cooperation and kindness are celebrated to help develop their soft skills while on vacation.

“Families are at the core of our offering at Club Med and this new enhancement of Mini Club Med + truly redefines the enriching holiday experiences children will have at our resorts. Over 70% of our guests from Asia visiting Club Med are families, we see the value and opportunity to empower the next generation with the character strengths they need to thrive in this fast-changing world.” said Rachael Harding, chief executive officer, East and South Asia & Pacific markets, Club Med. “We are thrilled to be able to launch this enhancement across Asia (excluding China) and highlight our commitment to delivering unparalleled and meaningful experiences for families.”

This much anticipated roll-out across Asia follows the successful test case in Club Med La Palmyre Atlantique, that has been specially formulated to address the changing needs of children and the rising expectations of parents, and directly responds to one of the major concerns, which is how to raise happy children? Holidays are very special moments in children’s development, where we believe creativity, courage, appreciation, teamwork or self-expression can be kindled and fostered.

Mini Club Med + is a Game Changer

At Mini Club Med +, kids are being prepared for the future. They will discover and develop unique character strengths around Creativity, Confidence, Connection, Cheerfulness, Courage and Cooperation (the 6 Cs of Mini Club Med +); vital soft skills to being happy, staying connected and growing with confidence.

One of such activities that the little ones can look forward at Mini Club Med + is the Ninja Bootcamp, where it requires them to design their own obstacle course and conquering it. The goal is to reveal a child’s unique character strengths and to develop his or her ability to effectively engage those strengths leading to increased self-esteem, energy and happiness. This approach echoes Club Med’s raison d’etre, perfectly matching the vision of Club Med’s founder, Gérard Blitz: “The purpose of life is to be happy. The place to be happy is here. The time to be happy is now.”

The program was developed in partnership with Professor Ilona BONIWELL, an Expert in Positive Psychology & Positive Education and a world leader in the field of Positive Psychology, with over 20 years of experience. A wealth of exciting new activities was designed to help children discover and develop their strengths. All of the original Mini Club Med activities such as sports and the Mini Club Med Show have also been re-engineered and passed through the same framework, to help nurture children’s soft skills, making them more than just fun activities, but truly enriching learning experiences.

The post Air Astana flew 3.9 million passengers till July 2022 appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily.

The group plans to expand the fleet to 59 aircraft by 2025 and develop capabilities in training and maintenance for long-term growth. Air Astana Group experiences strong passenger growth in 2022, with 3.9 million passengers carried during the first seven months of the year, which represents a 9% increase vis-à-vis the same period in 2021.

“Air Astana has rapidly recovered despite an unprecedented series of operational challenges this year, with passenger traffic up 9% and seat capacity up marginally between January and July compared to the same period last year,” said Peter Foster, president and CEO of Air Astana Group. “Given the strong expectation of continued growth in both international and domestic markets in the future, it is now timely for the Group to be significantly expanding the fleet, together with investing in new pilot training and maintenance facilities, to achieve long-term goals.”

The network continued to expand with the resumption of flights to destinations including London and Istanbul, together with the launch of new services to Greece. In the coming months, frequencies to Dubai, Delhi and Phuket will be significantly increased and services to Bangkok will be resumed, which represents a significant step in re-building the Asian network.

Air Astana Group fleet developments during the remainder of 2022 will see Air Astana take delivery of two more Airbus A321LR aircraft, bringing the total to 10, whilst the LCC division, FlyArystan will add three more Airbus A320neo aircraft, bringing the total fleet up to four. Air Astana Group added 13 new aircraft between mid-2020 and March 2022, with a further 24 aircraft due to join the fleet by mid-2025. This fleet modernisation process will see some older aircraft being gradually replaced.

The Group’s flight crew training capability will be significantly expanded with the opening of a new centre costing USD10 million in Nur-Sultan later this year. The training centre will be equipped with a first in the country full flight simulator, which will not only improve pilot training efficiency, but also help alleviate the need for expensive training outside Kazakhstan and save up to USD18 million over the next 10 years.

The Group is also planning to expand its in-house maintenance capability at regional bases in the near future. These two developments ensure that Air Astana will remain a regional leader in terms of crew training and engineering services.
