Explications des directeurs de Go Life.

Chelsea eye up moves for Insigne or Richarlison as they ready for Eden Hazard’s departure

Chelsea preparing for Eden Hazard’s summer departure as they eye up Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne and Everton’s Richarlison

  • Chelsea are bracing themselves for Eden Hazard’s probable departure to Spain
  • Blues have earmarked a number of options including Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne
  • The 27-year old Italy international is valued at £140million by the Serie A outfit
  • Twenty-one-year-old Richarlison is another London club have followed closely

Simon Jones for MailOnline

Chelsea have earmarked a number of options as they brace themselves for Eden Hazard‘s probable departure to Real Madrid.

Though the Belgian has only one year remaining on contract at the end of this season, the club still believes they could command a figure in excess of £100million especially considering his current standing in the game as one of the most influential attacking players in the world.

Christian Pulisic will arrive from Borussia Dortmund, however, the 20-year old was targeted last year with one eye on the ages of Willian and Pedro. Likewise, the club’s intention during negotiations for Pulisic was always to keep teenager Callum Hudson-Odoi with Chelsea’s hierarchy keen to lower the age of their squad.

LORENZO INSIGNE STATS FOR SEASON

Appearances: 27

Goals: 11

Assists:

Replacing a player of Hazard’s calibre is never going to be easy but Chelsea have faith Maurizio Sarri can improve and re-shape the team.

A move for Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho is considered highly unlikely. Despite the Brazilian encountering teething problems establishing himself at Barcelona, he is not of a mind to give up on his dream move just yet and wants to fight for his place beyond this season.

Lorenzo Insigne has long been on Chelsea’s radar and is considered a more natural replacement, yet prising him out of Napoli would not prove cheap. The 27-year old Italy international is valued at £140m by his club.

Everton’s Richarlison is another the club have followed closely, while Pablo Sarabia of Sevilla was proposed by scouts last month.

Chelsea considered buying him from Brazil prior to his move to Watford and have monitored his progress following his £40m summer transfer to Everton where he has predominantly been used as a centre forward.

Jadon Sancho has of course been followed too but is still very much a work in progress and the prospect of Borussia Dortmund allowing him to go in the summer following Pulisic’s sale are minimal.

Alternatively, Chelsea like Leon Bailey at Bayer Leverkusen though he has struggled for form lately and could explore Madrid’s squad options in negotiations for Hazard.

While Mateo Kovacic is an obvious makeweight, Chelsea also like highly valued Marco Asensio, who may be forced to consider his future with Hazard earmarked for his favoured left wing position.

Much could hinge on whether Gareth Bale stays and whether Madrid can be successful in adding Christian Eriksen from Spurs too to complete their ideal summer rebuild.

Liverpool legends work up a sweat in training session ahead of showdown against AC Milan

Not sure Jurgen Klopp needs you for the title run-in, lads! Liverpool legends Jamie Carragher, Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen work up a sweat in training ahead of repeat of 2005 Champions League final with AC Milan

  • Liverpool Legends will play AC Milan at Anfield in a March 23 charity match
  • The encounter will be a repeat of the 2005 Champions League final in Istanbul
  • There are seven players from that squad in line to play against the Italians

Jack Bezants for MailOnline

As Jurgen Klopp‘s Liverpool squad battle to achieve iconic status by winning the Premier League, Anfield’s stars of yesterday will return in March to play AC Milan in a legends’ match.

In an encounter that will reprise the unforgettable 2005 Champions League final in Istanbul, Liverpool have named seven members of the squad to feature on the night in Turkey to play the Italian side on March 23.

Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia are joined by Luis Garcia, Vladimir Smicer, Djimi Traore, Djibril Cisse and Jerzy Dudek, while there are many more heroes from other eras in line to play.

Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen – stars in Gerard Houllier’s 2001 treble winning season – reprise their role in attack while Alan Kennedy – a two time European Cup winner and five-time league winner with Liverpool in the 1970s and 80s – is also down to feature.

Liverpool were infamously 3-0 down at half-time against Milan in the 2005 final. They conceded in the first minute through Paolo Maldini before a Hernan Crespo double put the Italians in an immensely commanding position.

Rafa Benitez brought on Dietmar Hamann to shackle playmaker Kaka and free up Steven Gerrard and Liverpool hauled themselves level with three goals in six second half minutes.

Gerrard sparked the comeback with a header in the 54th minute before Smicer and Xabi Alonso completed the turnaround.

A couple of wondersaves from Dudek and a goal-line clearance from Traore later and the match headed to penalties, where Dudek engraved himself into Liverpool folklore by saving two spot-kicks as the Reds sealed their fifth European Cup.

Two years later, the sides reached the Champions League final once again, this time in Athens.

It was Milan who emerged victorious on that occasion, recording a 2-1 victory.

Many of the legends’ squad were pictured training at the Kirkby Academy on Wednesday after the match was announced but it is unlikely Klopp will be bringing them into the fold for Liverpool’s present title bid.

The current squad are back in action on Saturday when they welcome Bournemouth to Anfield, looking to record a vital victory in order to return to winning ways in the battle for league honours.

Two consecutive 1-1 draws at home to Leicester and away to West Ham have seen Klopp’s men reeled in by second-place Manchester City.

City can dislodge Liverpool in first by defeating their Merseyside rivals Everton on Wednesday night but will move above them having played one game more.

Arsenal Supporters’ Trust fear they will be surpassed by TOTTENHAM

Arsenal manager Unai Emery will once again have sparse resources at his disposal this summer with the club set to hand him a mere £45million to spend in the transfer market.

Having been told he could just make loan signings during the January transfer window, the Gunners boss will again be forced to work within stringent financial boundaries in the summer as he looks to reshape his squad.

Here, Sportsmail assesses why the ninth-richest club in world football finds themselves consigned to the bargain bins.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery will once again have sparse resources at his disposal this summer

Arsenal boss Unai Emery will once again have sparse resources at his disposal this summer

How much money do Arsenal make every year?

The last set of financial results saw the club post a healthy after-tax profit of £56.5million, up on the £35.3million from the previous results. It suggests Arsenal are still strong financially. But according to the latest Deloitte Money League, their total revenue was down from £419m to £389m. Yet the fact they are ninth-richest club in world football indicates they still have significant financial clout.

Is Kroenke taking too much money out?

It’s an issue that has infuriated sections of the Arsenal fanbase in recent years. But perhaps the more pertinent question is why isn’t Kroenke putting more money in?

Well, and Arsenal fans won’t want to hear this – under the businessman’s control, the club have spent significantly on the playing squad in recent years. The wage bill has gone through the roof, the club smashed their transfer record three times in the space of five years on Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Arsenal have spent extensively during the recent Kroenke era. Whether the expenditure has proved value for money is an altogether different argument.

Arsenal have spent extensively during the recent Stan Kroenke era with very few results

Arsenal have spent extensively during the recent Stan Kroenke era with very few results

Arsenal have spent extensively during the recent Stan Kroenke era with very few results

What are the restrictions on the wage bill?

Their wage bill is at the absolute limit, mainly due to the decision to award Ozil a contract worth £350,000-per-week. The deal essentially means the club – in terms of playing contracts – are punching well above their weight.

The repercussion of that deal are starting to take hold. A restricted playing budget in terms of wages and fees is something manager Unai Emery will have to contend with moving forward. Under Financial Fair Play regulations, clubs can only increase their wage bill by seven per cent per season. Arsenal are approaching that threshold with the current wage bill around £210,000,000 in the latest financial results, hence the restrictions.

Wage bill is at the limit, due to the decision to give Mesut Ozil £350,000-per-week

And who are the top earners?

Ozil by a country mile. Aubameyang earns close to £200,000-per-week, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is on £160,000-per-week while Lacazette’s deal is worth in the region of £140,000-per-week. There are then a host of players earning at least £100,000-per-week. In short: Arsenal’s wage structure is at breaking point.

Why are they letting Aaron Ramsey leave on a free?

The decision is believed to have been taken by Emery. But the financial implications on the decision are clear. Ramsey, rightly so, would have expected a new contract worth well in-excess of his current £100,000-per-week wage – perhaps close to double that sum. The club were prepared to give him an improved deal, and Ramsey was ready to sign. But the offer was eventually retracted, with sources claiming Emery – knowing the budget he is working to – believes the money could be used more efficiently elsewhere.

But surely they will have to replace him with a similar high-earning player?

They will have to replace him for sure. But whether they make a like-for-like signing remains to be seen. The club’s recruitment team have been working under remit of the club’s restricted playing budget. Matteo Guendouzi arrived under the radar for a fee of around £7million in the summer. He looks to have a big future ahead of him. Arsenal will be hoping to unearth more low-key gems this summer.

How much has Mesut Ozil’s huge contract cost them?

A whopping £63million. An incredible amount of money. Given Emery does not view Ozil as a part of his long-term plans – an incredible mistake.

What other gaffes have they made with transfer dealings?

Allowing players to run down their contracts. Ramsey – a proven Premier League player – has been allowed to leave for nothing. In today’s market, Ramsey would be worth in the region of £50million.

Danny Welbeck – an England international – is set to leave for nothing in the summer when his deal expires. Jack Wilshere was allowed to leave for nothing last summer.

Rejecting a £60million offer from Manchester City for Alexis Sanchez in the summer of 2017 only to sell him in a swap deal with Mkhitaryan six months later. Mkhitaryan earns more than Sanchez did at the Emirates. And there’s plenty more examples.

Rejecting £60m from Manchester City for Alexis Sanchez to swap him was a huge error
