Chelsea players held a clear-the-air meeting at the club’s Cobham training ground on Monday following their 6-0 defeat by Manchester City.
The Blues’ defeat at the Etihad Stadium was their worst ever in the Premier League and caused further questions to be raised regarding the future of manager Maurizio Sarri.
As reported by The Sun, Chelsea players spoke openly to each other regarding the club’s current predicament, although it isn’t known whether Sarri was part of the meeting.
Chelsea players held a clear-the-air meeting following their 6-0 loss to Manchester City
Chelsea are currently in sixth place in the Premier League, 15 points adrift of leaders City, and have lost three of their last four top flight fixtures.
Sergio Aguero hit a hat-trick for City, with Raheem Sterling scoring a brace and Ilkay Gundogan also on target.
Sarri’s side are back in action on Thursday when they host Malmo in the Europa League.
The Chelsea manager oversaw a training session at Cobham on Monday that consisted of players that didn’t start the game against City.
Notably, Sarri was wearing his own clothing as opposed to official Chelsea attire.
After the loss to City Sarri refused to shake hands with opposing manager Pep Guardiola.
Sarri has often criticised his players for their performances this season.

Patrick Kluivert fears for old club and admits it is ‘difficult to see’ their current plight

‘Newcastle is in trouble… How are they going to get the points?’ Patrick Kluivert fears for old club and admits it is ‘difficult to see’ their current plight
- Patrick Kluivert believes Newcastle may not avoid Premier League relegation
- Rafa Benitez’s side are 17th and sit outside the drop zone on goal difference
- Kluivert spent one season at Newcastle in 2004/05 and scored 13 goals for club
Newcastle face a tough battle to retain their Premier League status, according to their former striker Patrick Kluivert.
The Magpies are 17th in the table and sit outside the relegation zone on goal difference ahead of their Monday night clash against Wolves.
Kluivert, who played for the club in 2004/05, believes Rafa Benitez’s side cannot afford to drop points against their nearest rivals, and may struggle to survive this season.
Patrick Kluivert believes Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle may struggle to stay in the Premier League
Kluivert told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football: ‘I think Newcastle has a big problem. You can’t drop points at teams who are a little bit above you or a little bit below you.
‘But they need to struggle and they need to get the points as soon as possible. How do you get the points?
‘By winning games, but it’s much easier said than done. First you need to have confidence for the players and then hopefully the results will come later.’
Kluivert admitted he was saddened to see his former club’s difficulties so far this season
During his one season on Tyneside under Bobby Robson, Kluivert made 37 appearances and scored 13 goals in all competitions.
As a former club, Kluivert insisted he wanted to see Newcastle thrive and was not happy to witness their current problems.
He added: It’s a pity because all the ex-clubs where you’ve played you want them to have a good time.
‘You don’t want them to be struggling as they are now so it’s a bit difficult for me to see them in this position at the moment.

» Facebook ».

Real Madrid defender Marcelo denies links with Juventus but insists he admires the Italian giants

‘If there was anything to be told, I’d say it – but nothing’: Real Madrid defender Marcelo mystified by Juventus links but insists he admires the Italian giants
- Marcelo denies that he could potentially make a move to Juventus this summer
- The Real Madrid left back has been heavily linked with a switch to Italy
- While he admires Juventus, the defender insists Real Madrid is his home
Real Madrid defender Marcelo has insisted that he knows nothing about a potential move to Juventus this summer.
The Brazilian left back has been heavily linked with a move to the Italian champions and was reportedly keen on following former team-mate and friend Cristiano Ronaldo to Turin.
After being a nailed-on starter for Real in recent years, Marcelo appears to have fallen out of favour this season having started 11 league games while manager Santiago Solari has opted to go with rising star Sergio Reguilon in the left-back position.

And while Marcelo has revealed his admiration for Juventus, he has insisted that a move to Italy is not on the cards any time soon.
When asked about a potential move, the 30-year-old told Esporte Interativo: ‘I’d also like to know where are these rumours coming from because it’s not normal. It’s funny because they [the press] make pictures with a Juve shirt.
‘Juve is a splendid team since the times of [Pavel] Nedved, I once played against them and he was there, it was amazing, I changed shirts with him.
While Marcelo does admire Juventus, the left back insists that Real Madrid is his home
‘But I’m from Real Madrid, I have a contract with Real Madrid and the things that are being published, I don’t know what they are [coming from], you don’t know, many people don’t know either and honestly, I’m a sincere man, you know it.
‘If there was anything to be told, I’d say it – but nothing.’
Marcelo joined Real from Fluminense in 2007 and has gone on to make 332 appearances for Los Blancos.
