Newcastle vs Sheffield United, LIVE: Big match for both sides as Steve Bruce’s men have the chance to put further distance between themselves and the drop zone while victory will see Blades move into a European spot
Newcastle host Premier League high-flyers Sheffield United at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.
It will be Newcastle’s first taste of action back since the coronavirus-enforced break and Steve Bruce will be hoping there will be no rustiness to shake off with his side still not yet out of the woods in the relegation battle.
The Magpies are comfortable in 14th as things stand but a win today could see them move closer to the European positions than the drop zone and almost but guarantee their top-flight status for next season.
Sheffield United, meanwhile, still have plenty to play for too with a top-four finish not out of the question. They restarted their season with a controversial draw with Aston Villa earlier this week after a goal-line technology failure cost them the three points but a victory this afternoon could still see them move into one of the European places.
