Mauritius defeats Madagascar in preliminary rounds of volleyball in women categories

The first set was won by the Malagasy team with a score of 23 to 25 for Madagascar while the second set saw a more aggressive comeback of the Mauritian team, bringing the match to a draw of 1-1 with a score of 25 to 19 followed by a third set of score 26 to 24.

The Mauritius Volleyball team defeated Madagascar in three sets, sealing the victory of 3-1 with a score of 25 to 18 for the fourth set.

Volleyball has held its place at the Indian Ocean Islands Games (IOIG) since 1979. This opposition sport has evolved with the times becoming increasingly intense with the introduction of the libero position, making this game an extremely strategic one.

It is recalled that in the conquest of gold in this discipline, Madagascar and Mauritius are at a tie of 3 for men, while for women, Seychelles is ahead of Madagascar with a total of 4 to 2. Hence, in this 2019 edition, 16 years and 24 years after having respectively won the gold medal at the JIOI, the Mauritian volleyball will have the obligation to wake up to reign over this discipline.
