- Liverpool signed Harvey Elliott from Fulham in 2019 but couldn’t agree a fee
- The Reds are set to pay an initial £1.5million to Fulham now with more to come
- Initially they wanted to pay £750,000 in compensation and Fulham wanted £8m
Liverpool and Fulham‘s ongoing compensation battle over Harvey Elliott has finally been resolved with the former being forced to pay a record compensation fee for the then-16-year-old.
Liverpool signed the teenager from the west London outfit in the summer of 2019 but could not agree a compensation fee so it had to be settled by a tribunal.
And the outcome has resulted in Fulham potentially receiving £4million if Elliott reaches several targets at Anfield. For Fulham to receive the full compensation fee, it is believed Elliott would have to make over 100 appearances for Liverpool and be capped at senior level by England.

The Premier League strugglers have also been granted a 20 per cent sell-on clause should he leave the reigning champions at any point in the future.
In a short statement on Twitter, the Cottagers expressed their satisfaction at the outcome. Before the tribunal the Reds reportedly offered £750,000 for the winger, while Fulham wanted £8m for their former academy star.
‘The Professional Football Compensation Committee has today given its decision with regards to the compensation payable following Harvey Elliott’s move to Liverpool in 2019.
‘Under the Youth Development Rules, the PFCC is tasked with assessing the compensation due for a player who leaves an Academy at the end of his registration, if the parties cannot agree the figure between themselves.
‘After a full hearing, the PFCC has decided that Fulham should be entitled to substantial compensation.
‘The award (undisclosed) is a record amount for a 16-year-old player and, in the circumstances, Fulham is very pleased and thanks the PFCC for its careful consideration of the arguments we put forward.’
Of the breakdown of the fee, Liverpool are set to pay an initial £1.5m – including a £300,000 fee after Elliott signed his first professional contract last summer and a further payment of £200,000 will be due when he signs his second professional deal.
Liverpool are believed to view this as a fair decision.
Since joining the Merseyside outfit Harvey has made nine appearances for the club. He is currently on a season-long loan at Blackburn Rovers where he has scored four goals and assisted eight times in 22 matches.
Harvey holds the record for being the youngest-ever Premier League player, having made his debut for Fulham in 2019 at just 16 years and 30 days old.
