Lee Westwood runs out of steam and misses the cut at the Honda Classic in Florida following back-to-back second-place finishes
- Westwood’s impressive run ends with a missed cut at the Honda Classic
- The Englishman battled to a level-par 70 in the first round despite being ‘jaded’
- But he followed up with three double-bogeys and three bogeys in a 78 on Friday
Lee Westwood admitted to feeling ‘jaded’ ahead of the Honda Classic and it showed as the 47-year-old missed the cut.
After back-to-back second-place finishes where he finished one shot off Bryson DeChambeau and then Justin Thomas in the last two weeks,
Westwood admitted his legs were ‘feeling it a little bit’ ahead of this event in Florida.
Lee Westwood still had plenty to smile about with son Sam during the second round on Friday
That was clear as he shot a second-round 78 to follow his 70 in the first to leave him eight over on a course where he finished fourth last year.
Of those to have finished their second round, Brandon Hagy led the way at nine under, with Sam Ryder a stroke behind.
Englishman Tom Lewis shot an impressive 66 but is nine strokes behind.
