Kugandrie Govender takes over as acting chief executive officer at the embattled Cricket South Africa ahead of England tour
England’s first opponents of the upcoming winter made a second temporary appointment within 24 hours as the crisis in South African cricket deepened.
Kugandrie Govender was named as Cricket South Africa’s acting chief executive following the resignation of Jacques Faul, who held a similar role. She was the organisation’s chief commercial officer.
Earlier this week, Beresford Williams was named as interim CSA president after the under-fire Chris Nenzani quit.
England due to travel to South Africa in November for one-day and Twenty20 internationals
Following the developments, Andrew Breezke, the head of South Africa’s players’ association, said ‘one can only deduce that the board of directors has yet again reached a level of dysfunctionality that threatens the existence of the game in our country.’
England are due to travel to South Africa in mid-November for a tour comprising three one-day and three Twenty20 internationals.
It had been scheduled for next March but was brought forward recently when this autumn’s Twenty20 World Cup was postponed.
