Kai Havertz ‘asks to LEAVE Bayer Leverkusen this summer’ with Chelsea leading Real Madrid in race

Chelsea have been given a boost in their pursuit for Kai Havertz with the forward reportedly asking to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer, although Frank Lampard’s side will have to battle it out with Real Madrid for his signature.

As revealed exclusively by Sportsmail last month, Chelsea are preparing to launch a transfer bid for the 20-year-old.

And according to Bild, Havertz has had enough at the BayArena and has told them of his desire to seek pastures new.

The Blues face competition from Real Madrid though – with both having to meet his buyout fee

The forward is valued at £75million but Chelsea will have to match his £90m buyout clause if they wish to prize him. Chelsea are willing to pay that but are fee but in installments.

However, the Blues face competition from Real Madrid for his signature. Any pursuit from the German giants though would mean they would have to sell players first in order to fund a move for him.

Havertz enjoyed a brilliant season with Bayer – scoring 17 goals in 43 games across all competitions.

His performances have helped propelled the club to fifth in the Bundesliga, while they also finished as runners up in the German Cup.

Speaking last month, Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller remained hopeful they could keep their precocious talent.

‘We haven’t given up hope that he’ll stay with us,’ Voller told ARD. 

‘We try to give him every possibility that he can call up his qualities.

‘He did an outstanding job in the second half of the season.’
