Jurgen Klopp reveals Joel Matip will be back training ‘normally’ on Monday after groin injury with Liverpool boss forced to field Jordan Henderson as makeshift centre-back in top-of-the-table clash with Manchester United

- As a result, Jordan Henderson will play as makeshift centre-back against United
Jurgen Klopp has said Joel Matip will train ‘normally’ on Monday after missing the last three league games with a groin injury.
Matip has been absent for Liverpool ever since he limped off in their draw against West Brom on December 27 but did return to training on Friday to take part in various drills.
Klopp is confident that the 29-year-old will ‘fine’ by Monday but claims a return to action against Manchester United would have been too soon.

As a result, Klopp said he would play Jordan Henderson as makeshift centre-back in their top-of-the-table clash with Manchester United on Sunday.
Klopp said: ‘Joel could only do part of the sessions since Friday. Now it’s Sunday so that’s not enough.
Jurgen Klopp believes Matip will be ‘fine’ to return on Monday but not against Man United
As a result, Jordan Henderson will be played as a makeshift centre-back in the United game
‘But from tomorrow he will train normally, hopefully everyone will be fine. That’s why Hendo plays there again.’
Liverpool’s showdown against United will be Klopp’s 200th league game in charge of the club.
Should Liverpool emerge victorious, his side can jointly regain top spot in the table should they go on to win.
