HOT OR NOT: Dan Evans’ career renaissance has been immense while Jarrell Miller got busted once again ahead of his comeback
- Dan Evans triumphed in the Battle of the Brits at the National Tennis Centre
- Dustin Johnson became the third man to win a title in each of his first 13 seasons
- American boxer Jarrell Miller tested positive for the second time in two years
It’s Hot or Not time again as Sportsmail’s Riarth Al-Samarrai reveals what’s been making him feel warm and what’s been leaving him cold this week.
HOT
Dan Evans
He won Battle of the Brits and to judge from his movement around court, he is winning his fight to reach the kind of fitness needed at the elite level.
It was a bold step to hook up with Kieron Vorster, a no-nonsense coach, but it seems a smart one. The rehabilitation of Evans’ career has been immense.

Tianna Bartoletta
It was noted with some amusement that Christian Coleman accused one of his detractors of criticising him as a means of gaining ‘clout’.
That detractor being USA team-mate Bartoletta, a three-time Olympic gold medallist and one of the sharpest thinkers in athletics. Clout enough, you’d think, to point out that missing drugs tests is a bad idea.
Dustin Johnson
He spits all over the place, which rather plays to his reputation for not over-thinking matters of the day.
But on the trivialities of golf he really is wonderful. By winning the Travelers Championship he became the third player in history to win a title in each of his first 13 seasons. It’s a mystery how he has only one major.

NOT
Jarrell Miller
How surprising that a year after testing positive, the American heavyweight has been busted again ahead of his comeback.
But every cloud — it means we get to hear more of his protests. His most recent is he never ‘willingly’ took anything. The bloke weighs nearly 300lb, so unless a massive bear is spotted with a medicine cabinet in the New York area, something is fishy.

Alexander Zverev
A week after saying he would isolate following his swim in Novak Djokovic’s Covid bowl he was filmed at a busy party.
While we should all be grateful for how it prompted Nick Kyrgios’s row with Boris Becker, it does beg a question — why are tennis players in particular finding this whole pandemic so hard to grasp?
New England Patriots
They were fined more than $1million and stripped of a third-round draft pick for filming the Cincinnati Bengals sideline.
The Patriots claimed they were documenting the role of a scout for a show on their website; others cried spy. Some say Bill Belichick’s Patriots have a knack for such misunderstandings.
