The 73-year-old hasn’t managed since leaving Birmingham in 2017 but has returned to work on a temporary basis to offer his support to his former player.

‘Jonathan Woodgate played under me at Spurs and he’s a great lad,’ Redknapp told Sky Sports.

‘He asked me to come in for a few days and watch them train, just to be around the place for a few days and help keep my eye on things for him.’

Redknapp, who still lives by the south coast, also played for Bournemouth from 1972-1976.

The Cherries are currently sixth in the Championship table, ten points off leaders Norwich and nine behind second-placed Brentford.
