Farhad Khoyratty n’est plus.
Farhad Khooratty,un des chargés de cours les plus brillants du campus du Réduit,a tiré sa révérence.C’est son ancienne prof au Mahatma Gandhi Institute,l’historienne Vijaya Teelock,qui m’apprend la triste nouvelle : »J’ étais son prof au secondaire au MGI Moka..Il avait très bien travaille en histoire, et je m’attendais à ce qu'il continue les études en histoire pour la HSC.Mais il a choisi d'autres filières, où il pouvait mieux compete pour la bourse. »
Natif de Rose-Hill en 1972,Farhad fit l’essentiel de ses études tertiaires en Angleterre,notamment au King’s College et à l’université de Birmingham.Il enseigna ensuite au prestigieux Cambridge.De retour au pays natal,il devint chargé de cours à l’université de Maurice,où il enseignait les lettres.Egalement auteur,il se distingua à l’étranger,où le prix Nobel Michael Coetzee,fit les éloges d’une de ses nouvelles.Il obtint également une bourse de l’ambassade américaine,pour un séjour à l’université d’IOWA,et en revint également auréôlé d’un Honorary Fellow in writing.
Auteur d’expression anglaise,l’humour était omniprésent dans ses textes,et ses études académiques ont été publiées dans maintes revues et dans la presse locale :

C’est Farhad qui avait pris sur lui pour enseigner les ouvrages de Lindsey Collen à l’université de Maurice.Il a également preface un des ouvrages de l’auteur de “There is a tide”.Il était également un grand ami de la poétesse Shakuntala Hawoldar.
Son esprit brilliant manquera certainement au campus du Réduit.Nos vives sympathies à tous ceux que ce départ afflige.
