An initiative of the NEF, the training aimed at giving vulnerable poor women the opportunity to learn a new skill and eventually find a job so that they could generate revenue for themselves and their families and become financially independent. Another objective was to help young women and minors who have left school in receiving vocational training.
The training was held over 12 sessions and modules comprised both theoretical and practical assessments as well as a short course on Information Technology and entrepreneurship.
In her address, Minister Jeewa-Daureeawoo spoke of the importance of giving the beneficiaries a means to be empowered and to be financially independent. She congratulated them for having successfully completed the course while encouraging them to put in practice what they have learnt and to start earning a living. Furthermore, she underlined Government’s continued commitment as regards the alleviation of absolute poverty.
