Did you know that #mauritius belonged to three different countries before it finally got its independence⁉️
To learn this #lazyleopold went to the capital of the island #portluis.
A small city on the north-west coast. Despite the small population (it is only 150.000☝️) the city is crowdy and full of cars. You will probably stuck on the way to/back in a rush hour 🚗🚙🚕🚌🚗🚙🚕🚌‼️
There is no special architectural style or beautiful building, however like all Island the capital is the mix of different cultures. In the city you can see a lot of different templates (Chinese 🏯, Indian, Christian ⛪️ etc.).
.
The city has very narrow streets to drive. So Lazy Leopold didn’t risk to drive a car and took a local guide instead.
Probably it is
1️⃣ #tipfromlazyleopold take a guide‼️☝️
2️⃣dress really very light clothes! There is hotter than on the coast. Seriously! 🥵
3️⃣if you like Museums, you can visit the Blue Penny Museum #bluepennymuseum.
Lazy Leopold is not a big fan of stamps, but there you can see two of very rare stamps, which cost around 5 million 💵. there you can learn about very interesting history of maritime and discovery of Mauritius 🛶⛵️🛥⚓️🏝.
4️⃣what was really cool in the city is the vegetable market! 🥗🍆🌶🥒🥬🌽🥕🥦(👀👉 the next post about it). This was a paradise of vegetables!
.
.
Leopold cannot say if it was the best/beautiful city to visit (probably not), but it was nice to see something very local. It is not advised to visit it with children.
