British sprinters Adam Gemili and Daryll Neita have been told to cease contact with the leading coach Rana Reider after multiple complaints of sexual misconduct were made against him.

Reider is set to be the subject of an ‘imminent’ investigation into his behaviour by the US Center for SafeSport, according to UK Athletics, who have been contacted by the organisation.

Reider, a former employee of UKA until his departure in 2014, has been working with Gemili and Neita at his Florida training base, but they have now been instructed to suspend their relationship with the 51-year-old or else lose their lottery funding.

A UK Athletics spokesperson said: ‘Multiple complaints of sexual misconduct have been made against Rana Reider and an investigation in the US is imminent, UK Athletics has informed UK athletes currently being coached by him to cease all association until the conclusion of this process.’

The American’s lawyer Ryan Stevens told Sportsmail: ‘The timing and motives of the alleged complaints have not been investigated or vetted at this time.

‘We have not received a notice of allegations or any evidence of the alleged claims whatsoever. We look forward to the investigative and vetting process to ensure fairness and due process to Rana.’

The claims come at a time when one of Reider’s leading athletes, Blessing Okagbare of Nigeria, is fighting three anti-doping charges.

UK Athletics previously confirmed to Sportsmail that owing to those circumstances they had referred the relationship between Reider and Gemili and Neita to their standards, ethics and rules committee.

Reider guided Canadian Andre De Grasse to Olympic 200m gold at Toyko 2020.
