This was the scene at Rivière des Créoles this morning…
.
This is sadly just a very small portion of the view – it extends to a great distance on both sides… I am working on a video to show you the extent of the damage, but I'm short on time and have other commitments – still working on it, but if I cannot post smth today, it will be for early Sunday morning…
.
I salute the SMF for their efforts and their unwavering courage in the face of such humongous work that awaits them… I was privileged to spend about an hour in their company this morning and was really impressed as to how high spirited they all were… not cowering before this daunting task…
.
I wish that the SMF officials take great care of these men and that they can work a day and have a day off – even if it takes longer to clean everything up, because it isn't healthy to breathe those fumes every day… I hope that the higher ups will consider this request…
.
They also need to be provided with breathing masks as well as any other kind of PPE… and I'm not talking about covid masks – but the kind of full face masks used by those dealing with spray paint.
.
I was very much impressed by their courage this morning… So i don't want to burden this post with a lengthy rant, but I still wish to again reiterate my anger about how this could have been avoided and how the health of our young men of the force would not have been jeopardized, had the members of the government been competent!
.
In any case, Thank you for your service young men! This country owes you a debt of gratitude.
