'World Press Freedom Day' is celebrated every year on May 3. It is one of the calendar events outlined, organised and promoted by the United Nations. The theme of World Press Freedom Day 2020 is "Safety of Journalists – Press Freedom and media capture". The significance of the day is to raise awareness of the importance of freedom of the press and remind governments of their duty to respect and uphold the right to freedom of expression enshrined under Article 19 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
