Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of Park Hyatt Jakarta, marking the highly anticipated debut of the Park Hyatt brand in Indonesia. Located in the tranquil Menteng area in the heart of Jakarta’s bustling central business district, the hotel offers a distinctive collection of culinary, leisure and wellness experiences as well as unique event venues for bespoke celebrations, delivering guests and locals the epitome of luxury in Jakarta.

“With Hyatt hotels operating in Indonesia for over 40 years, we are delighted to share that the Park Hyatt brand has launched in the country, introducing its refined hospitality and personal service to local residents and visitors from near and far,” said David Udell, group president, Asia-Pacific, Hyatt. “As more countries reopen their borders and travel confidence grows, Park Hyatt Jakarta is an exciting addition to our Park Hyatt portfolio, complementing new hotels that have opened in recent years in Auckland, Kyoto, Niseko and Suzhou.”

Park Hyatt Jakarta occupies the top 17 floors of the 37-story Park Tower in the center of the city’s financial and diplomatic district. The hotel’s surrounding area, Menteng, was originally conceived in the early 20th century as a garden city and is now known for its peaceful tree-lined streets, abundant greenery and elegant heritage architecture. Park Hyatt Jakarta offers easy access to idyllic parks and popular retail and entertainment venues as well as panoramic views of the nearby National Monument Park. The hotel’s location harkens back to the origins of the Park Hyatt brand with its first property overlooking a serene park in Chicago, its proximity to nature reflecting how Park Hyatt hotels around the world offer an oasis of calm in the midst of the bustle of the city.

The residential-style interiors of Park Hyatt Jakarta were designed by award-winning, London-based design practice Conran and Partners led by partner Tina Norden. Inspired by the beauty of the Indonesian rainforests, traditional crafts and indigenous natural materials, the design uses elements such as lava stone and copper as well as handwoven ikat textile motifs, intricate wood carvings and shields are used to create a welcoming oasis of calm and elegance for its guests. The visual journey through the property symbolizes the layers of a rainforest, starting with a richer, darker color scheme on the lower floors that calls to mind the forest’s understory. Reflective of branches wrapped around the trunk with dappled light filtered through the canopy, the palette becomes lighter on the higher floors with warm tones incorporated throughout. Through the atmospheric transition and evocative design, guests will be transported from Jakarta’s urban bustle into a tranquil, sophisticated and comforting environment with a strong sense of location overlooking the city.

A custom art collection, curated by Indonesia’s acclaimed Hadiprana design consultants, seamlessly merges traditional heritage with sleek contemporary designs, creating a subtle contrast between Jakarta’s modern urbanity and the country’s ancient natural environment. Guests can also admire specially commissioned works by celebrated Indonesian artist John Martono, whose swirling abstracts blend painting and hand embroidery on silk. European inspirations are also evident. One of the hotel’s most striking features is a series of hand-blown crystal installations and chandeliers, made up of thousands of delicate orbs that hover like clouds, reflective of rainfall and starlit skies. A nod to the archipelago’s diverse cultural heritage, the guestrooms feature exquisite traditional Indonesian crowns made from copper, which is also widely applied as an interior accent for a subtle touch of splendor.

Brits are ‘top deck’ when it comes to responsible travel

The post Brits are ‘top deck’ when it comes to responsible travel appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily.

Eco-friendly domestic tourists in the UK are more switched on to the issue of sustainability than their European counterparts – and more likely to bear these concerns in mind when booking a short break, according to new research from Tootbus. However, cost implications and generational differences pose barriers to the real, immediate action that is needed.

An impressive 69% of UK travellers say they have heard about the concept of ‘sustainable travel’, with 41% claiming to have a strong understanding of the subject. This makes them more knowledgeable than their neighbours from France (68% / 32%) and Belgium (65% / 29%). However, while 82% of those questioned in Generation Z (18-24) are clued up, that drops with each increasing age bracket, to just 60% of Boomers (65 and over).

When it comes to nipping off for a short city break, whether it’s at home or overseas, just under half of Britons (49%) say preserving the environment in their chosen destination is ‘very important’, again ahead of the French and Belgians (42% and 37% respectively).

Pollsters Opinionway conducted a wide-ranging survey on the issue of sustainable holidays on behalf of city bus tour operator Tootbus – to capture a barometer gauge on how current attitudes to green issues were likely to shape travel trends in the future. And interestingly, it was good news for holiday companies, with the answers suggesting that holidaymakers already understand that eco-tourism comes with an additional cost. While 77% of UK travellers acknowledge that eco-friendly tourism is expensive, it is a cost most are willing pay.

When quizzed about choosing activities on their city break, UK visitors are the most likely to opt for operators and attractions that are environmentally aware (86%). At the same time, Brits are more accepting of the idea that visiting a city in a ‘greener’ way could be more expensive – with average price rises of 16.5% being deemed bearable (French would pay 10.8% more / Belgians 11.8% more). However, less than one in five overall (19%) say that they would choose an eco-friendly option even if it is more expensive than a similar, less green option.

Gavin Brooking, MD Tootbus UK, explained: “Right across the travel and hospitality industry companies are battling with the fear that raising environmental standards and improving pay and conditions for staff is going to hurt them, but what our survey has discovered is that Britons are much more aware of sustainability and want to make them part of their holiday choices. And while the generational differences are clear, it is heartening to see that the younger age groups are the ones driving change.

“But I’d like to see how far they are willing to push that awareness and desire with tourism operators. While 72% say that ‘sustainable tourism must become the only way to travel’, are they ready to boycott non-green operators, especially when taking cost into account? This is something I’m particularly keen to monitor with our future barometers. We need to start seeing real, tangible actions, even if it incurs a slightly higher cost, in order to ignite real, positive change.”

The trend for doing the right thing on holiday is reflected in the British willingness to adopt eco-friendly behaviours during a city trip. Popular measures include buying local produce (89%); eating local and responsibly, with less meat and seasonal goods (82%); travelling off-peak (82%) and choosing sustainable travel to get around the city, such as walking or cycling (79%).

For city mayors and town planners there are some interesting take-aways too. Natural attractions such as green spaces and parks, and the proximity of rivers, feature in the city-break decisions of 52% of Brits. More than one in every two (55%) Brits would choose to visit a city in the UK, potentially a by-product of the pandemic restrictions, but also the how travel operators have adapted to the domestic market over last two years. Tootbus, for example, has seen huge success with locals taking to its London Bar Bus, and with tours focused on content for children and around the recent Jubilee celebrations.

Tootbus, which offers planet-friendly tours of iconic cities across the UK, France and Belgium, promotes loving and protecting our cities. Its journeys provide memorable travel experiences while remaining eco-friendly with clean air buses which are powered by biodiesel/euro 6. The sightseeing operator also launched the world’s first all-electric sightseeing bus in Brussels in 2021.

Preserving the environment is important for every component of the trip, especially for young people, who are willing to pay more than other groups. And you certainly shouldn’t underestimate the power of social media either, with British travellers way out in front when it comes to getting a good selfie… a staggering one in five (21%) said they would visit a particular spot to take the ultimate Instagram shot (rising to one in three (33%) for those aged 18-34).

And looking ahead, British holidaymakers are also more inclined to believe that the future of holidays is much more sustainable. As many as 84% of those questioned believe sustainable travel is a good way to help the environment.

Raheem Sterling takes part in his first Chelsea training session after £50m move confirmed

Raheem Sterling takes part in his first Chelsea training session after £50m move from Man City was confirmed… as Thomas Tuchel introduces him to his new team-mates in the Los Angeles sun

  • Raheem Sterling has joined Chelsea in a £50m deal from Manchester City
  • Forward has become the first signing of the Todd Boehly era in west London

  • He was then seen doing running and passing drills in a group in Los Angeles
  • The 27-year-old also signed autographs for fans who had turned up at session

Raheem Sterling has taken part in his first Chelsea training session just hours after his £50million move from Manchester City was confirmed.

The 27-year-old has become the first signing of the Todd Boehly era after penning a five-year deal worth more than £300,000-a-week with Thomas Tuchel’s side.

And having vowed to do his talking on the pitch in his first interview as a Blues player, the England international wasted little time in participating in his first training session under the watchful eyes of the German boss.

The session took place on Wednesday under the glorious Los Angeles sun, with the Blues having flown out to California on Saturday for the start of their pre-season tour of the USA.

Before getting down to work, Sterling was introduced to his new team-mates by Tuchel.

In a video posted on the club’s official Twitter account, Tuchel said: ‘Raheem is new with us. A very warm welcome from all of us.

‘We are very happy that you are here. Have a good first training [session].’

He was then seen doing some running and passing drills in a group and was also pictured in conversation with fellow England international Reece James and wingers Callum Hudson-Odoi and Hakim Ziyech.

Sterling – who spent seven years at the Etihad Stadium – also took the time before the session began to sign autographs for fans who had turned up at Drake Stadium UCLA Campus.

He could now make his first appearance in Chelsea colours in the early hours of Sunday when they take on Mexico’s Club America in Las Vegas.

If he doesn’t feature on Sunday, Sterling could make his unofficial Chelsea debut in Charlotte next Thursday or against Arsenal in the Florida Cup final the following Saturday.

Speaking after being unveiled in LA, London-born Sterling said: ‘First and foremost, it’s a pleasure to be here.

‘I’ve obviously achieved a lot in my career so far, but there is still so much more to achieve and I’m really looking forward to doing that in a Chelsea shirt, under Thomas (Tuchel’s) management.

‘London is my home and where it all started for me, and it’s amazing I now have the opportunity to play in front of friends and family week in, week out at Stamford Bridge. I’m really looking forward to meeting the fans there soon.’

Sterling made more than 300 appearances for Man City and won 11 major trophies but is understood to have moved for more regular first-team football.

Sterling scored 131 goals for Pep Guardiola’s men in all competitions and is their second top scorer in European football, and Mason Mount, 23, is now hoping he can bring that quality to Stamford Bridge.

‘I have been lucky to play with him over the last couple of years with England, where he has captained the team at times.

‘He is someone who has been there for a very long time. He is a top player and I have learnt a lot off him over the last couple of years.

‘For him to be joining us is only going to bring our levels higher. He is definitely someone who strives for high levels and win.

‘We want those players around this group and we want to keep striving for that. I am very excited to see him and for him to be here.’

Zoom sur les métiers de la nutrition

0

[ad_1]
