Hotelbeds has today announced its new Environmental, Social and Governance strategy, which aims, as Hotelbeds’ CEO Nicolas Huss describes, “to take Hotelbeds’ position on ESG to the next level and galvanise our commitment to making travel a force for good”.
This commitment is not a new one for Hotelbeds, with a range of ESG related initiatives already under its belt, including:
- Signing up to The Climate Pledge – the first B2B travel company to do so;
- Achieving carbon neutral status for over four years consecutively;
- Its Green Hotels programme and
- Its on-going support for Ukraine through its Make Room 4 Ukraine programme.
It also reacted quickly during the pandemic, moving its volunteering activities for employees online to support a wide range of NGOs and groups supporting vulnerable communities around the world.
Nicolas Huss explains that “as one of the world’s leading travel technology companies, we have the opportunity to make tourism a force for good and contribute to creating a sustainable future. We are committed to supporting and developing green tourism and to continue to reduce the environmental impact of our daily operations and offices, while also supporting our partners to achieve their own ESG goals.
“Another important part of our strategy is to make sure we lead our ESG agenda from the front, ensuring our employees can contribute themselves to creating a stronger and healthier society as well as supporting local communities to thrive and progress. Furthermore, our wellbeing programme, which is embedded in our culture, is one of our key tools to support our people on their journey towards happiness and work-life balance.”
“From a governance perspective, although we know we have more work to do, we have achieved 50% of our executive team being women, reflecting our determination to have an inclusive and diverse workplace.”
Among the initiatives Hotelbeds plans to launch in the coming year, working with a range of NGOs, is a global reforestation project and a mentoring scheme for small scale or startup businesses, especially those with a focus on sustainable travel.
It also plans to harness the commitment of its hotel partners to sustainability issues, with booking filters identifying hotels that avoid single use plastics, for example, or who offer electric charging points for vehicles – tapping into the knowledge that these requirements are becoming increasingly important to the travellers of today.
And as part of its wider strategy launch, the company also announced to its employees this week an increase in the number of volunteer hours it will match, demonstrating its belief that the teams at Hotelbeds are passionate about making a difference in the communities where they live and work.

Three-star Road, five ways: Discover the best of the Mitsuboshi Kaido
[ad_1]
The post Three-star Road, five ways: Discover the best of the Mitsuboshi Kaido appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily.

Nestled in the heart of Japan, Three-star Road, also known as Mitsuboshi Kaido, encompasses five distinct locations which each have something special to offer. Travellers wanting to book a long-awaited trip to Japan should look no further than Kanazawa, Nanto, Shirakawa, Takayama and Matsumoto, where they’ll find historical sites, fantastic gastronomy and authentic culture at every turn.
Kanazawa
Steeped in history, Kanazawa has long been a city of importance in Japan, rivalling the likes of Kyoto and Edo (Tokyo) during the Edo Period (1603 – 1868). Today, Ishikawa’s capital is home to historic castles, manicured gardens and contemporary museums that give an insight into its storied past. One unmissable attraction is the Kenrokuen Garden, a peaceful 11.4 hectare space with spectacular flora and an artificial pond, Kasumigaike, created to symbolise the sea. Visitors looking to take part in a traditional tea ceremony can visit the Kaikaro Teahouse whilst those wanting to learn about Geisha culture can visit the Higasi Chaya District, Kanazawa’s largest Geisha neighbourhood.
Nanto
Nearby Nanto is blessed with beautiful natural surroundings that stretch for miles. Around 80% of the area is woodland and the Shogawa river meanders through the city. The Suganuma Gasshozukuri Village is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, encompassing traditional farmhouses set against a towering mountain backdrop. Retaining much of its original charm, the village has a Gunpowder Museum (Ensho no Yakata) and Folk Centre (Gokayama Minzoku Kan), allowing visitors to learn about Nanto’s history and traditions. Also not to be missed when visiting is the Inami Chokoku Sogo Kaikan, a wood carving museum home to intricate carvings by talented Japanese sculptors.
Shirakawa
Shirakawa is a small but mighty mountain village with an abundance of natural beauty; from pristine Lake Hakusui to Ogimachi Castle, where its observation deck boasts views of the greenery, Shirakawa is nothing short of breathtaking. Sample the authentic flavours of the region at one of the many restaurants and kissatens (Japanese coffee shops) or check out the Doburoku Festival which takes place annually from the end of September until mid-October (exact dates TBA), where there’s plenty of opportunities to taste local sake whilst enjoying live folk singing and dance performances. Wellness-seekers can relax in the Shiramizu no Yu onsen; its warm waters flow from Mount Hakusan and are said to help soothe aching muscles and improve circulation.

Takayama
Situated in the mountainous Gifu Prefecture, Takayama is an authentic, historic city surrounded by rich nature. Its stand-out attractions include the beautifully-preserved Old Town, where there are shops, coffee houses and sake breweries to explore, and the Hida Folk Village, an open-air museum which showcases traditional houses built during the Edo Period. Like Shirakawa, Takayama has a great gastronomy offering; the city is known for its Hida beef croquettes, a delicacy made with high-quality meat to rival the likes of wagyu and Kobe. Takayama also hosts two daily markets, the Miyagawa Market and the Jinya-mae Market, where visitors can purchase everything from locally-grown vegetables to fresh-cut flowers.
Matsumoto
Matsumoto is the perfect combination of outdoor beauty and world-class attractions. Matsumoto Castle is one of Japan’s oldest castles – the tower of which was built in 1593 – and is appreciated for its black and white design set against the vibrant Japanese Alps. Visitors can learn about its rich history or simply stroll around the grounds and admire the scenery. As the home of contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama, a visit to the Matsumoto City Museum of Art is also a must. There’s a vast collection of works by the famed artist on display as well as creations by celebrated local creatives. A short drive outside of Matsumoto, travellers can visit Daio Wasabi Farm to learn about the production of the plant and purchase unique, wasabi-related products.

Pourquoi le colostrum est-il si important ?
[ad_1]

- Il n’a été prélevé qu’à partir de la première traite, dans les 16h après la naissance ;
- Il a été testé pour s’assurer que tous les composants tels que les immunoglobulines, la lactoferrine et les facteurs de croissance soient présents en grande quantité et qu’ils sont bioactifs ;
- Il a été soumis à une pasteurisation rapide pour détruire toute bactérie contaminante qui pourrait être présente ;

Dior selects Four Seasons Bali for first pop-up store in Indonesia

The post Dior selects Four Seasons Bali for first pop-up store in Indonesia appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily.

Traditional culture and beach lifestyle meet designer couture as Dior opens its first retail space in Bali, with a partial buyout of Sundara Beach Club at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay that reaffirms the island’s profile as a destination for discerning travellers and extraordinary events.
Open daily from June 30 to August 12. 2022, the Dior pop-up store and café at Sundara is the first major event in Bali since borders opened to international visitors in February 2022. It highlights the unique blend of authentic culture and sophisticated lifestyle that make Bali one of the world’s favourite islands.
“The scale and high-profile nature of this event is like nothing Bali has ever seen before,” says Nicolas Senes, Resort Manager at Four Seasons Resort Jimbaran Bay. “Four Seasons and Dior are icons of luxury sophistication, and we are proud to demonstrate the creativity, craftsmanship and world-class experience we offer. This is super exciting for Bali as a destination.”
Working with Dior’s interior designer Kingsmen Indonesia, Sundara’s entire dining and beach club space extending over two-storeys and more than 1,300 square metres (approximately 14,000 square feet), has been transformed into a fairy-tale showcase for the new Dioriviera Collection 2022.
The temporary redecoration includes an underwater 57-metre-long (187 foot) artwork installation running the entire length of Sundara’s pool. It took scuba divers four days to install the artwork, featuring the Dioriviera logo and toile de Jouy design on the bottom of Bali’s longest beachfront pool.
A dedicated entrance to the pop-up store on Sundara’s Mezzanine level sets the tone for the Dioriviera 2022 Collection’s lush jungle theme, as life-size sculptures of wild animals pop out from tropical foliage. Sundara stripped its Mezzanine level – removing all furniture, interior wall partitions and 16 chandeliers – to provide a blank canvas for Dior’s interior designer to install their own themed furniture, merchandising displays, fitting rooms and a café. Even the walls, ceilings and poolside daybeds have been covered with Dioriviera’s toile de Jouy monochromatic tapestry for the duration of the six-week-long event.

Dior Café provides a culinary experience that taps into Bali’s relaxed yet chic resort style. While Sundara continues to serve its modern international and smoky barbecue flavours at the main dining areas on the ground level, the Dior Café on the Mezzanine welcomes diners for breakfast, lunch and dinner with 180-degree ocean views, and a private bar. Dior’s Mediterranean-inspired menu was created by Four Seasons Executive Pastry Chef David Peduzzi and Sundara Chef de Cuisine David Gavin (former Chef de Cuisine at Mozaic Ubud) who drew on their French training and experience to meet Dior Paris’ culinary guidelines and precise requirements for each dish. The café servers are Sundara staff, styled in Dior uniforms to deliver the five-star service for which Sundara is renowned.
“The scale of this high-end lifestyle event is a first for Bali, resulting from a landmark collaboration between Dior and Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay based on shared goals of delivering excellence in service and attention to detail,” says Mathilde Adam, Senior Director Sales and Marketing at Four Seasons Resorts Bali. “The timing is significant: it is the first major event since Bali opened its borders to the world after more than two years. We are thrilled to be selected as the venue for Dior’s first pop-up store and concept café in Indonesia, reflecting the renewed confidence of the international luxury market as Bali re-emerges with optimism, open arms, and the once-in-a-lifetime experiences that our Resorts offer.”
This incredible Dior event comes as Four Seasons Resort Jimbaran Bay welcomes new General Manager Randy Shimabuku and unveils the Healing Village Spa and Rossano Ferretti Hair Spa. The culinary team has also been bolstered with the appointment of Executive Chef Liam Nealon, who started his Four Seasons journey as Chef de Cuisine at Sundara and returns “home” to Bali from his most recent position as Executive Chef at Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai.
The Dior showcase at Sundara runs from June 30 until August 12, 2022, 10:00 am to 8:00 pm daily.
The Dioriviera pop-up store is open by appointment only for consultations with Dior stylists.
Guests of Four Seasons Resorts Bali enjoy priority access to Dior Café.

Michael Beale wants ‘to take QPR back to the promised land’ and he Aston Villa for his big time shot
[ad_1]
Why wouldn’t Michael Beale believe in the wheels of fortune? One revolution took him from teaching futsal to children in a church hall in Bromley to coaching beside a Brazilian legend in the concrete jungle of Sao Paulo.
Another turned his career full circle, out of Liverpool one year and back the next, in time to join Steven Gerrard as he embarked upon his own managerial career at Rangers and Aston Villa.
Now Beale has returned to London, the city he calls home, where he failed to make the grade as a player at Charlton and coached in Chelsea’s academy, and has taken control at Queen’s Park Rangers, a club where he has family connections.
Michael Beale left the side of Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard for a shot at the big time
‘Ray Harford was a cousin of my nan,’ he explains. ‘They lived in the same house growing up in central London. When I was a kid at family weddings and parties, Raymond was always there.
‘He was a nice, softly spoken man although I’ve heard there was another side to him inside the changing rooms. It’s because of him and everything he achieved that I never felt like it was impossible to become a football player or a coach.’
Harford played in the lower leagues before a managerial career including spells at Fulham, Luton and QPR. He was assistant boss to Kenny Dalglish when Blackburn won the Premier League and succeeded him at Ewood Park. He died in 2003, aged 58, less than a year after being diagnosed with lung cancer while on the coaching staff at Millwall.
‘My nan lives in Kent and we’re really close,’ says Beale. ‘When I told her I was coming to QPR, she said, “Raymond worked there, he’ll be looking down on you”. Things like that are nice. Some things are fate.’
Beale, 41, didn’t join QPR, however, to satisfy his nan. ‘Out of all the opportunities that came up, I felt this one fitted,’ he says. ‘It’s not the club with the most money in the world to spend right now but it’s got good strong ownership and they support you.
‘The club has gone through a difficult period and had three years of stability and this is the challenge to push back to the Promised Land.’
Charlie Austin scored 18 goals when QPR were last in the Premier League despite finishing last
Every Championship manager will go into the season saying the same, but there’s fresh optimism at a club relegated from the Premier League seven years ago and plunged into crisis when heavily punished for breaking the EFL’s financial fair play rules.
QPR are stepping into a new era with a new training ground in Heston, West London.
Beale outlines the grand plans as he steps proudly on to the immaculate playing surfaces and enthuses about how this upgrade in training facilities can accelerate development inside a club where there resides such a vast wealth of footballing knowledge.
Rogerio Ceni has over 1200 games and 131 goals as a goalkeeper for Brazilian side Sao Paulo
Director of football Les Ferdinand and technical director Chris Ramsey were coaching at Tottenham when their move to a new training ground coincided with an upturn in performances.
Legendary coach Ray Harford is cousin to Beale’s grandmother
First-team coach Neil Banfield spent over two decades coaching at Arsenal under Arsene Wenger. Damien Matthew, Beale’s assistant manager, worked in Charlton’s academy from where the likes of Jonjo Shelvey, Joe Gomez, Ezri Konsa, Ademola Lookman and Joe Aribo emerged.
‘Any club has to speak to its community,’ says Beale, as he plots ways to tap into a huge inner-city talent pool and the intense and intimidating rattle of Loftus Road. ‘You have to have an identity. I want us to be close to our environment and so do the owners,’ he said.
‘We have to share what we’re doing with the fan base and they have to receive it and understand it because once it’s aligned you can march in the same direction.
‘The alignment is massive. Whenever you align the board with the people who manage the team and the players and ultimately the fans, that’s powerful. You can defy the odds in the Championship by building a strong team and a strong identity and that will be our job here.
‘Nathan Jones did that at Luton in his way and Valerien Ismael did it at Barnsley. Jurgen Klopp is the best example, the manager and recruitment were in line with the model and the fans see it.’
Beale went from teaching futsal in a church hall in Bromley to the concrete jungle of Sao Paulo
Beale has seen the other extreme. Sao Paulo, where he worked as assistant to club icon Rogerio Ceni, was less aligned.
‘After 35 games, we turned up to find we’d sold two players without being told,’ he recalls. ‘I resigned that day, a Friday. We were due to play Flamengo at the Maracana on the Sunday and Rogerio lost his job on the Tuesday.’
Ceni, who made more than 1,200 appearances for Sao Paulo and scored 131 goals as goalkeeper, is back in charge of the club, reappointed little more than four years after his sacking.
Beale got the call to ask if he would join him again but this time he politely declined. ‘I’m waiting for him to become Brazil manager,’ he quipped. ‘I’ll go abroad again when the time is right. I’d hate to retire and not spend a period coaching outside the UK, either at first-team level or as head of youth.’
First, though, the Championship with QPR.
