Hilton rolls out first global brand platform ‘Hilton. For The Stay’

The post Hilton rolls out first global brand platform ‘Hilton. For The Stay’ appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily.

Hilton is shaking up hotel marketing and advertising with the announcement of its first global brand platform that identifies what has been missing from hotel marketing – the hotel stay. “Hilton. For the Stay” places the hotel front and center, elevating the role and importance of the stay at a time when lodging advertising is a sea of sameness, featuring overused destinations, cliché walks on the beach and generic descriptions of travel.

Hilton is debuting “It Matters Where You Stay,” a new advertising campaign to introduce the platform, using humor to push against some of the common but unspoken pitfalls of travel, boldly poking fun at what can go wrong when booking or on a trip. The campaign also features the multi-faceted businesswoman and philanthropist Paris Hilton, who grew up living in and staying in numerous Hilton hotels across the world, which gave her a unique exposure to the hotel business early on.

Her role in the campaign is inspired in part by the legacy of her family, whose belief in the power of travel and the hotel stay to connect people and cultures continues to motivate Hilton Team Members around the world today.

In addition to Paris, renowned actor Catherine O’Hara lends her voice to the campaign, with TV commercials first airing in the U.S. on July 25 and audio rolling out shortly thereafter.

“Today, as we make company history with Hilton’s first brand platform, we’re reminding guests that at the heart of a great trip is a great stay and that it’s just different when that stay is with Hilton,” said Mark Weinstein, Chief Marketing Officer, Hilton. “As we enter this next era of travel, it has never been more important to consider where you stay – and Hilton is uniquely committed to making sure your stay is everything you need it to be.”

Hilton and TBWA\Chiat\Day New York, Hilton’s agency since 2017, used TBWA’s Disruption methodology to architect the bold new vision, born from the insight the hospitality industry has become almost entirely focused on the destination, not the stay itself. Consumer research uncovered “the Stay,” and being cared for, are the crucial elements that can make or break any trip. So, Hilton is doubling down on its new brand platform to prove to its guests that truly, “it matters where you stay.” The platform will permeate nearly every consumer touchpoint, from broad-reaching consumer advertising through the travel planning process and the guests’ stay with Hilton, as well as post-stay.

“With ‘Hilton. For the Stay,’ we are more fully connecting our external customer marketing to our purpose – staking our rightful claim that Hilton owns the Stay,” said Weinstein. “The idea of the Stay was incredibly natural to Hilton, and yet no one else was talking about it. As others tout the generic virtues of travel, minimize the role of the hotel and the hotel team members, and romanticize the destination, through our platform and the campaign it inspires, we’re reminding travelers that ‘It Matters Where You Stay’ and boldly affirming ‘Hilton. For the Stay.’”

Blow for Manly Sea Eagles as more NRL players refuse to wear pride jersey against Sydney Roosters

The hits just keep coming for Manly, as it’s been revealed yet more players outside of the original seven pride jersey boycotters have rejected the opportunity to play this weekend and wear the rainbow jumper.

Josh Aloiai, Jason Saab, Josh Schuster, Haumole Olakau’atu, Tolutau Koula, Christian Tuipulotu and Toafofoa Sipley have already announced they’ll be boycotting the side’s crucial match against on the Roosters on Thursday.

It left the club scrambling to replace the seven players ahead of team submission deadline to the NRL at 4pm on Tuesday.

A group of first-gamers knocked back the chance to play in the game wearing the rainbow jumper, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Reportedly the players, who have not been named, did so for similar reasons to the original Manly 7, unspecified cultural or religious grounds.

It comes as coach Des Hasler and captain Daly Cherry-Evans addressed the media on Tuesday afternoon to confront the firestorm of controversy.

‘We wish to apologise to the LGBTQ community who embrace the rainbow colours and use these colours for pride and advocacy and human rights issues,’ he said.

‘Our intent was to be caring and compassionate towards all diverse groups who face inclusion issues daily. However, instead of enhancing tolerance, and acceptance, we may have hindered this.’

Hasler defended the seven players who are boycotting the match, and admitted the club handled the situation poorly.

‘Sadly, the execution of what was intended to be an extremely important initiative was poor. There was little consultation or collaboration between key stakeholders, both inside and outside the club,’ he explained.

‘No one is forced to do anything in this game. The decision is clear, some people feel strongly about certain things and that is fine.

‘It is a good initiative and it puts 17 people out there who will do many people proud and make those feeling vulnerable a bit more welcome in society,’ said Hasler.

Just one player has been confirmed as being one of the seven replacements: veteran hooker James Segeyaro.

The Kumuls international will play his first NRL game since 2019 after serving a 20 month ban for returning a positive drug sample for ligandrol, which is the drug Shayna Jack also copped a ban for.

Segeyaro has been playing on a cut-price train and trial contract since joining the club in May, and has impressed for the Eagles’ feeder club, Blacktown Workers.

The talented hooker’s 154 game NRL career has been plagued by disciplinary issues, and he said he was thankful for Hasler’s confidence in him to do a job come Thursday night at Brookvale Oval.

‘Obviously I’ve been given this opportunity due to circumstances, however, that doesn’t change the fact that I have been working to achieve this chance for several seasons,’ Segeyaro told News Corp.

‘I’m grateful for Des (Hasler’s) faith in me and while I’m obviously looking forward to it, I have a job to focus on and I’m confident of playing that role for the team.’

Losing seven players, for any reason never mind in such controversial circumstances, would be devastating – but all the more so given the huge implications of Thursday’s match against the Roosters.

Both sides are level on points, with Manly ninth and the Roosters eighth, as they chase a finals spot with just six rounds left in the regular season.

Hasler promised in the press conference the side would do ‘something special’, but it will need to be a miracle if they are to beat a red-hot Roosters side.

The Chooks are coming off a cumulative 96-38 score line in their victorious past two games, but they’ll still need to be aware of a wounded club on its home deck.
