Fan fury as Manchester City’s crunch clash at Everton will NOT be screened live in the UK despite its impact on Premier League title race

  • Man City travel to Everton in crucial Premier League clash on Wednesday
  • Pep Guardiola’s side will leapfrog leaders Liverpool if they take all three points
  • But the match at Goodison Park will not be broadcast live in the UK
  • Fans expressed their annoyance at the television blackout on social media
  • Match moved forward from February 23 after City reached Carabao Cup final
  • Sky Sports and BT Sport had already made their match picks for February
  • EVERTON VS MANCHESTER CITY LIVE – Latest score and match updates

Adam Shergold for MailOnline

Wednesday night’s match between Everton and Manchester City will not be televised live in the UK despite having major implications for the Premier League title race.

The fixture at Goodison Park, which could see City move top of the table ahead of Liverpool on goal difference, was rearranged after Premier League broadcasters Sky Sports and BT Sport had already made their live picks for this month.

It had originally been scheduled for Saturday February 23 at 5.30pm but City’s progress to the final of the Carabao Cup that weekend meant a new date had to be found.

And because Pep Guardiola’s side will soon be returning to midweek action in the Champions League, it was decided to bring the game forward to this Wednesday night.

Premier League matches cannot take place on the same night as Champions League games without special dispensation.

Unfortunately, fans in the UK will not be able to watch Wednesday night’s match live despite its potential importance to the outcome of the championship.

Supporters took to Twitter to express their disappointment the game wasn’t being televised.

Adam McPherson wrote: ‘So for all the money everyone spends on Sky Sports & BT Sport, Everton vs Man City is not being shown on any UK TV this evening! WTF is that.’

Another fan wrote: ‘It’s mad to think that in 2019 you can be subscribed to every legal UK sports TV subscription available and not be able to watch Everton vs Man City.’

Another tweet read: ‘Just realized Everton vs City ain’t on TV tomorrow. fuming.’

With Liverpool drawing their two most recent matches against Leicester City and West Ham, what was a seven-point advantage over City is now down to three.

And with their superior goal difference, City will move top of the standings for the first time since early December if they take all three points at Goodison, albeit having played one more game than Liverpool.

Had the match remained on February 23, it would have been shown live on BT Sport.

The broadcaster chose to move the Leicester City vs Crystal Palace fixture on that day from 3pm to 5.30pm to fill the gap in their schedules.

Both Sky and BT announced their live match picks for February back on December 20, meaning the decision to move the Everton vs City game forward left fans facing a TV blackout.

Instead, they will have to make do with BBC One’s coverage of the FA Cup replay between West Brom and Brighton, or Sky’s Scottish Premiership coverage of Aberdeen vs Rangers.

Those with Eleven Sports subscriptions will be able to watch the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final between Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Ironically, fans in every other part of the world will be able to watch the match live, with City’s website listing all the countries and channels.

Sky have said fans can watch the goals as they go in on their mobile app and the match will be broadcast live on talkSPORT radio.

Mauricio Pochettino leaves same restaurant as ex-Real Madrid duo Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham

Mauricio Pochettino spotted leaving same London restaurant as Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham amid Tottenham fans’ fears he could join their former club Real Madrid

  • Mauricio Pochettino is a target for Real Madrid as they look for a manager
  • He was pictured leaving a London restaurant on Tuesday before the other two
  • Ex-Real pair David Beckham and Zinedine Zidane left after the Argentine
  • Zidane and Beckham dined together, with Pochettino greeting the pair

Amitai Winehouse For Mailonline

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino – a target for Real Madrid – was spotted leaving a London restaurant on Tuesday night shortly after David Beckham and Zinedine Zidane.

In pictures published by The Sun, the Argentine was seen wearing a navy puffer jacket and jeans as he left, with Beckham – who also brought along his old pal Dave Gardner – and Zidane leaving later.

It is understood that Real Madrid legends Beckham and Zidane enjoyed dinner together. Pochettino was not with them, but did come over to greet the pair.

It heightens fears from Spurs fans that their boss may be off this summer, with the Spanish giants considering a big appointment. Pochettino is at the top of their hitlist.

Another of Beckham’s former clubs Manchester United are also monitoring his situation, although their resurgence under caretaker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer means they may pull out of the race.

Zidane has also been a target to take over at Old Trafford since Jose Mourinho’s sacking in December.

Pochettino’s assistant manager Jesus Perez was also pictured leaving the swanky Locanda Locatelli restaurant in central London.

Beckham and Zidane played alongside each other for three seasons between 2003 and 2006 at Real Madrid during the club’s ultimate Galactico era.

The pair have remained firm friends ever since, with Zidane managing Real to three back-to-back Champions League wins before quitting last summer.

Santiago Solari is currently in charge at the Bernabeu, although he is not expected to last beyond the end of the season.

Tottenham have managed to hold on to Pochettino since his arrival in 2014, during which time he has elevated them into Premier League title contenders and Champions League regulars.

They desperately want him to remain in charge next season when they will be running out in their new stadium.

However, it appears they face an increasing battle with Real Madrid for his services.

Spurs are believed to be more fearful of losing Pochettino to Real than they are United.

Asked in December whether he had grown tired of the chatter around him leaving, Pochettino said: ‘No, no. Why? This type of news I think does not upset or bore people.

‘I prefer that newspapers talk about things like this than talk about ‘Tottenham is going to sack me’ or ‘people are tired of me’ or ‘we are in a difficult situation’.

‘Of course, if I choose one situation I choose this one. I am not bored of it, of course.’

He signed a five-year contract in May and has publicly joked about chairman Daniel Levy being ‘concerned’ about him potentially departing.

‘Daniel does not laugh,’ he said. ‘I know it gets boring but he maybe is worried, he is concerned. It is normal. It is not nice for Daniel to hear all that history of course.

‘Do I have to reassure him? No. It is like in football when the sporting director or president says ‘No, the manager is going to be here and we trust in him’ and next game… OUT. If you reassure something it is because you are thinking different things.

‘He is a worried man because he is jealous about me! It’s normal, no, because of the rumours.’
