Hertha Berlin 2-3 Bayern Munich: Former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry scores twice before Kingsley Coman nets extra time winner in German Cup
- Mittelstaedt put Hertha ahead but Gnabry equalised four minutes later
- Bayern dominated and the winger scored their second goal just after the break
- Selke levelled for the home side before Coman headed home from close rangeÂ
Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman scored an extra-time winner to give them a nervous 3-2 victory at Hertha Berlin on Wednesday and a spot in the German Cup quarter-finals as the Bavarians bounced back from their weekend league loss.
The French winger, surrounded by three Hertha players, headed in from close range in the 98th minute, handing victory to Bayern who had dominated the encounter but somehow failed to win in normal time.
Hertha took a third-minute lead with their first effort on goal through Maximilian Mittelstadt but it was all Bayern after that as the visitors bossed the ball with 75 percent possession.

Serge Gnabry fired in the equaliser four minutes later and then scored again four minutes after the break to put the Bayern ahead.
Yet a blunder by defender Mats Hummels, who headed the ball into the path of substitute Davie Selke, allowed Hertha to equalise with only their second shot on goal.
Coman then came to the rescue in the first half of extra time to save Bayern’s blushes.

Newport planning mud bath for Manchester City in FA Cup

‘The pitch is going to be tough even for the best players in the world’: Newport planning mud bath for Manchester City in FA Cup fifth round
- Newport beat Middlesbrough to book their place in fifth round of the FA Cup
- Next up are Manchester City at Rodney Parade, on what will be a boggy pitch
- Newport hero Paddy Amond believes City could come unstuck in the Welsh mud
- He says conditions and modest facilities could level the City tie somewhatÂ
Riath Al-Samarrai for the Daily Mail
Newport County goal hero Paddy Amond believes Manchester City could come unstuck in the mud when they arrive for their fifth-round showdown on Saturday week.
Rodney Parade hosted its 59th game of the season on Tuesday — owing to its use by two rugby teams — and Middlesbrough struggled on the boggy pitch.
Amond, who scored Newport’s second goal in the 2-0 won over Boro, believes the pitch and modest facilities are their best equaliser against a side 80 league places above them.

Rodney Parade hosted its 59th game this season on Tuesday night, in the FA Cup fourth round
He said: ‘The pitch is going to be tough for them. We have to hope it is an advantage, because it is a different kind of challenge, even for the very best players in the world.
‘City are a different proposition but there are three football matches on this pitch beforehand. I don’t know if there is a rugby game but I think we should try and get a couple on there.
‘There would have been very few City players, if any, who would have played at a ground like this. If the game was at the Etihad, then it would have been a different story.’
On the changing rooms, Amond added: ‘There is a small corridor between them and you can hear the away dressing room sometimes. When we played Leicester in the previous round, we walked into our dressing room and the gaffer usually gives us a few minutes to settle, but then we heard Claude Puel having a right go at his players. That gives you massive confidence that we had them on the ropes.
‘We had them rattled and that is what you need to do.’

Ô surprise: une retraitée apprend qu’elle est morte
[ad_1]

Gangajalee Gungadeen n’a pourtant rien d’un fantôme.
Gangajalee Gungadeen a 69 ans.

UEFA issue warning to Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain over Financial Fair Play rules
- UEFA are yet to decide whether to investigate if clubs breached financial rulesÂ
- It follows the publication of documents by the Football Leaks websiteÂ
- Both Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain deny any wrongdoing
Mike Keegan For The Daily Mail
Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have been warned no club is too powerful to be thrown out of European competition if they have broken finance rules.
UEFA are yet to decide whether to investigate if City and PSG breached Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules following the publication of documents by the Football Leaks website last year. Both clubs deny any wrongdoing.Â
But UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has insisted no team is exempt from scrutiny, saying: ‘Everyone is treated the same way. I have no problem throwing out anyone. I am under no pressure.’

Meanwhile, at UEFA’s congress in Rome on Wednesday, the organisation’s chief refereeing officer, Roberto Rosetti, vowed to ensure players seen making television signals in a bid to persuade officials to use VAR will be cautioned.Â
The Italian used Harry Maguire’s calling for a replay during England’s World Cup clash with Colombia after Jordan Henderson was head-butted as an example. The VAR system will be used for Champions League knockout matches.
FA chairman Greg Clarke, meanwhile, will learn on Thursday if he has seen off a challenge from Northern Irishman David Martin, the president of the Irish FA, to become Britain’s FIFA vice-president.
It also emerged on Wednesday that Gianni Infantino is set for a second term as FIFA president. He is the only candidate in June’s election.
