Wayne Rooney’s marriage ‘hangs by a thread’ after 10-hour drinking session with barmaid

Wayne Rooney’s marriage is reportedly hanging by a thread after he was pictured on a ten-hour drinking session with a barmaid in Florida.

The 33-year-old former England captain was spotted drinking with Vicki Rosiek until 2.30am last weekend in Clearwater Beach, Florida.

According to The Sun, wife Coleen was said to have torn into the Wayne, telling him: ‘You’ve humiliated me again!’

‘Coleen has never been angrier at Wayne,’ a source told the newspaper.

‘She was furious Wayne was back in the news for boozing and cannot believe he has been so stupid as to find himself caught up with another woman again. It’s just so embarrassing.

‘When Coleen found out she said she’d jump on a plane to the UK and take the boys with her and leave him on his own in America.’

The incident comes just weeks after he was arrested for being drunk at an airport in Washington DC.

It is the latest in a string of drinking incidents for the former Manchester United and Everton striker, including a court appearance for drink-driving in 2017.

The football star was also pictured withdrawing cash from an ATM outside a local Hooters

Rooney began his ten hour drinking session at 4.20pm and had been with his DC United teammates but then was seen separately with Ms Rosiek, 32, who he had met a few days earlier, the Sun on Sunday reported.

Earlier that evening, the DC United striker was seen using a cash machine outside a Hooters bar in Florida.

There is no suggestion anything happened between Rooney and Ms Rosiek.

A source told the newspaper: ‘Coleen has already warned him about his behaviour and will hit the roof over this. He is playing with fire getting into a woman’s car alone with his history.

‘One minute he’s on a pub crawl with male friends, then suddenly he’s moving between other bars with a pretty blonde.

‘At the very least it will worry Coleen to see Wayne drinking and acting this way while away from family.’

After talking for ten minutes at the Brown Boxer, Ms Rosiek offered Rooney, who had been drinking light beer Michelob Ultra, a lift to the next bar

Rooney’s marriage was in jeopardy 18 months ago when he was arrested for driving   party girl Laura Simpson, 30, in her VW Beetle in Cheshire while three times over the limit.

He was handed a two-year driving ban and 100 hours of unpaid community work, apologising for an ‘unforgiveable lack of judgement’.

Coleen, then pregnant, and their other three sons, Kai, Klay and Kit, were on holiday in Spain at the time.

In December he was taken into custody at Washington’s Dulles airport, saying he was left ‘disorientated’ by prescribed sleeping tablets he took on a flight while drinking.

He received a statutory automatic fine and was released shortly afterwards at the airport, a spokesman for Rooney said.

In 2016 he was at the centre of another drinking row at a wedding reception between England games, later apologising ‘unreservedly’ for his behaviour.

It was reported in April 2017 that he had been seen drinking at least five pints of Stella at a Cheshire pub on a night out.

Rooney has been in Florida with his DC United teammates as they prepare for the new upcoming MLS season.

He was seen watching the Super Bowl at 4.20pm last Sunday at the Pier House 60 Marina hotel.

Along with teammates, he went from bar to bar and then went with another team mate to the Brown Boxer.

He had also been seen getting money out near a Hooters bar – a restaurant chain renowned for waitresses wearing tiny outfits while serving customers.

Speaking about her encounter with Rooney, Ms Rosiek said she did not know who Rooney until a colleague told her.

She said: ‘He was on his own. When I saw him, I said, ‘Oh hey, I waited on you before’. Then we hung out.

‘There was a group of us there. I was sitting there, just bulls****ing with him. He seemed down to earth, just a regular dude a little shy and quiet.’

After talking for ten minutes at the Brown Boxer, Ms Rosiek offered Rooney, who had been drinking light beer Michelob Ultra, a lift to the next bar.

They left together and she drove them to The Shipwreck at 12.30am.

She said they ‘hung out for a few hours’ and felt Rooney ‘wanted someone to talk to without talking about soccer’.

Rooney left the bar at 2.30am and then she left at 3am.

He tried to get DJ Matt Valet to play Mumford and Sons song Timshel, although couldn’t make himself understood due to his thick accent.

DJ Matt Valet said: ‘In the end, he had to type it into my phone. I’d never heard of the song and unfortunately it wasn’t in my playlist. He seemed bummed out when I could not play it.

The bar where Rooney was drinking is well known for its lemon, rum and watermelon cocktail called Pink Pussy.

While Rooney was enjoying a night on the town, Coleeen was thought to be at home in Washington.

A source said: ‘She will be fuming, especially as she feels she’s sacrificed a lot to move to the States for him.’

MailOnline has approached a representative of Wayne Rooney for comment.

BUMBLE AT THE TEST: England should leave their middle order alone

BUMBLE AT THE TEST: England should leave their middle order alone… and what a performance from Mark Wood

  • Mark Wood’s pacey bowling helped England bowl out West Indies for just 154
  • Meanwhile, England’s batting middle order are exactly where they should be
  • David Lloyd gives us the rundown of his perspective of day two at the Test

David Lloyd for the Daily Mail

It was an eventful day two of the final Test between England and West Indies, with plenty of wickets falling on both sides.

England’s batsmen were under pressure from the Windies attack in the morning, but then a masterclass from pacey Mark Wood helped England bowl their opponents out for 154.

Sportsmail’s DAVID LLOYD takes us through his own perspective on the action…

What a performance from England's Mark Wood on day two of the final test against West Indies

Agony goes on for Keaton

Spare a thought for Keaton Jennings. Dropped in Antigua then back to bolster the batting but his innings looked an ordeal. The lad looked totally shot on the first day. I saw him hit three fabulous hundreds for Lancashire last summer. That’s what he has to do now.

Jennings was dropped in Antigua then put back in the lineup, but his innings looked an ordeal

Mark pulls up trees

What a performance from Mark Wood! Remember, he’s a replacement on this tour and he’s had a lot of operations. He used to very rarely touch 90mph but here, with a slightly modified run-up, the ball was flying through. I didn’t think he could get anywhere near 90mph any more but it just shows you what real pace can do.

If the name Gus fits…

I see Keemo Paul has Angus among his middle names. Have a look at when the Guyanese fast bowler was born. It was just after our own Angus Fraser (right) had destroyed West Indies on the 1998 tour. If he’s anything like Fraser, expect Keemo to enjoy a good moan, producing the ‘double teapot’ and kicking the turf.

Short-changed again

Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler played proper Test match cricket on the first day but then we had yet another Calypso collapse. West Indies were right on the money on the second morning with good disciplined, intelligent fast bowling. England are finding it difficult to cope and it looked like they were wary of the short ball.

Leave middle order alone

Despite the latest collapse I really hope England leave four, five, six and seven alone now. Joe Root, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow are in the right positions. It’s one, two and three they have to sort out. Let’s say it’s an opportunity for someone. Rory Burns has shown glimpses but I have to say there are a lot of moving parts in his technique.

Bob still a handful

I hear Bob Willis was sensational on TV on day one. ‘Well, I would have to say the wafted edge to slip is my favourite of all England dismissals,’ he said. Then there was ‘what birdbrains over there thought Ben Foakes, Sam Curran or Chris Woakes on one leg or even Jack Leach would not score more runs than Keaton Jennings?’ I see the old boy is mellowing.

Legs akimbo, all in limbo

They lit a bonfire on the beach outside our wonderful St Lucia digs the other night. As if it’s not hot enough! We had fire-eaters and limbo dancers and they asked the audience if we’d like a go. I must say I didn’t fancy blowing flames out of my mouth but one or two portly individuals had a go at the limbo. They were falling on the floor, legs akimbo.

Six Nations round-up: Joe Schmidt has two real playmakers on his hands

Six Nations round-up: Joe Schmidt has two real playmakers on his hands in Johnny Sexton and Joey Carbery while Thomas Young passed his Wales audition with flying colours

  • Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt has two real playmakers on his hands
  • Johnny Sexton and Joey Carbery both stood out in Ireland’s win over Scotland
  • Thomas Young passed his Wales audition with flying colours at Stadio Olimpico

Chris Foy for the Daily Mail

There was plenty to talk about from an action-packed weekend in the Six Nations as England maintained their 100 per cent record in this year’s competition.

Ireland also got their first win under their belt while Wales overcame Italy on Saturday afternoon.

Sportsmail’s CHRIS FOY runs through a comprehensive round-up of all the goings on from the second round.

TWO PERFECT No 10s

Joe Schmidt’s side were far from their best, but they have two real playmakers. Johnny Sexton was brave to delay the pass and take the hit for Jacob Stockdale’s try.

Then Joey Carbery came on at No 10 and blasted between two defenders to race clear before his pass created a try for Keith Earls.

A FINN OF BEAUTY

Scotland also have a world-class fly-half. Finn Russell’s brilliance was summed up by his assist for Sam Johnson’s try: interception, step, break and sublime off-load.

On the BBC, Andy Nicol said: ‘How calm is that? It looks like he’s lying on the sofa. There are 67,000 people screaming. He’s just run 50 yards.’

GLOATING O’MAHONY

Peter O’Mahony is happy to play the villain. The Ireland flanker was damned by Scots for the late tackle which forced Stuart Hogg off.

He won’t care a jot. At one stage, O’Mahony forced a Scottish knock-on, gloated and snarled triumphantly, prompting a scuffle. The agitator was in his element.

TEAM OF THE WEEKEND

E Daly (England); K Earls (Ireland), H Slade (England), B Aki (Ireland), J May (England); O Farrell (England), B Youngs (England); C Healy (Ireland), S McInally (Scotland), K Sinckler (England); J Gray (Scotland), C Lawes (England); P O’Mahony (Ireland), J Navidi (Wales), T Young (Wales)

ARRIVEDERCI ROME?

Italy should consider moving some Six Nations fixtures to other cities, rather than rattling around in a half-empty Olympic Stadium in Rome.

The attendance was 38,700 on Saturday, leaving 34,000 empty seats. Not a great look. Far better to tap into strong support up north in Milan, Turin or Bologna.

YOUNG AT HEART OF WIN

Thomas Young passed his Wales audition with flying colours. His Six Nations debut started in style when he won a turnover penalty after 30 seconds in Rome.

The Wasps flanker was outstanding and came close to a deserved try in the final seconds, only to be denied by a forward pass earlier in the move.

GATLAND IS FOOLING NO ONE

Warren Gatland is in his element. He claimed his Wales side could be ‘embarrassed’ by England on February 23. True, Wales were average against Italy, but they are on an 11-Test winning run. Gatland is making a pitch for underdog status but Wales will be far more confident than their head coach is letting on.

MATCH OF THEIR DAY: When the lights went out on the top flight’s Far East betting scam

0

[ad_1]

This week in 1999 Charlton Athletic, managed by Alan Curbishley, defeated Liverpool, managed by Gerard Houllier, 1-0 at The Valley.

It was a much-needed result for Charlton, who were second- bottom of the Premier League at kick-off, and a bad one for Liverpool. They had finished third the previous season and were about to slump to seventh.

But it was an even more important — and worse — result for a Far East betting syndicate on the brink of another massive payday. They had planned to make their money by short-circuiting The Valley’s floodlights in the second half.

John Barnes made his debut as Charlton beat Liverpool 1-0 this week in 1999

John Barnes made his debut as Charlton beat Liverpool 1-0 this week in 1999

John Barnes made his debut as Charlton beat Liverpool 1-0 this week in 1999

Sudden darkness at matches had become a Premier League event — if not regular, then frequent enough for the authorities to be concerned. The previous month Manchester United’s home game against West Ham had been delayed by 45 minutes due to a power ‘failure’.

There were growing suspicions that such power disruptions were not simply mechanical issues. The floodlights had failed at Derby versus Wimbledon in August 1997, at West Ham versus Crystal Palace three months later and at Wimbledon versus Arsenal three days before Christmas of that year.

MATCH FACTS

CHARLTON ATHLETIC (4-4-2): Royce; Mills, Brown, Tiler, Powell; Jones, Kinsella, Redfearn (Barnes 66), Robinson; Hunt, Pringle (Bright 83)

Scorer: Jones

Manager: Alan Curbishley

LIVERPOOL (4-4-2): James; Heggem (Gerard 81), Bjornebye (Song 74), Staunton, Carragher; Matteo, Ince, Redknapp, McManaman; Fowler, Owen (Riedle 81)

Manager: Gerard Houllier

Referee: Mike Reed

Attendance: 20,043

There was something going on and the police discovered its origin when they received a phone call from the friend of a Charlton Athletic worker who had been bribed to trip the lights during the Liverpool game.

The Metropolitan Police’s Organised Crime Group staked out The Valley and two days before kick-off, they saw four men in a BMW outside the ground and arrested them. Two came from Malaysia, one from Hong Kong and the other, Roger Firth, was a Charlton Athletic security guard.

When the police went to the hotel where the Malaysians were staying they found enough electrical equipment to sabotage the lights at The Valley and elsewhere, which was the plan.

The scam was a lucrative one. In Malaysia and other countries where the Premier League had proved to be hugely popular, the local football system had been corrupted by match-fixing. With players and officials banned, punters stopped betting.

Ironically, what is required in a scam is an apparently ‘clean’ organisation, a system that can be trusted. English football fitted the description. Now it was about fixing it.

A Far East betting syndicate had planned to make their money by short-circuiting The Valley’s floodlights in the second half

A Far East betting syndicate had planned to make their money by short-circuiting The Valley’s floodlights in the second half

The syndicates were bookmakers. They would take enormous sums from those who bet on favourites, such as Liverpool and Arsenal. Under their rules, bookmakers had to pay out — or collect — on the result if the second half of games had started. So their perfect scenario in the floodlights sabotage was for the favourites to be drawing or losing at half-time. Then it was about timing.

In the Wimbledon-Arsenal match in 1997, for example, the lights ‘failed’ 13 seconds into the second half with the score 0-0. The instruction was that if this was the scoreline then the lights at Selhurst Park were to be short-circuited.

Those who bet on Arsenal, presumably the majority, lost. The bookmakers’ profits were estimated in the tens of millions.

Those behind the Charlton plot will have been frustrated by the arrest of their colleagues outside The Valley — and their anger will have risen when they saw the game unfold. Unfancied Charlton were not only level at half-time, they then scored the game’s only goal, from Keith Jones.

The afternoon might have been remembered for that or for the Charlton debut of a 35-year-old John Barnes, against the club with whom he won two League titles. A red card for Jamie Carragher was also notable.

Houllier probably wished the lights had gone out and there were knowing newspaper references to Liverpool’s lack of security in defence.

The arrested quartet were on their way to court as the game kicked off. The two Malaysians involved were sentenced to four years each. Firth received 18 months. The fourth man, from Hong Kong, was Wai Yuen Liu. He received 30 months and during the trial was found to have connections with Triad gangs in the Chinese underworld.

They are powerful organisations and detective Andy Sellers of the Metropolitan Police was convinced they were behind the other floodlight failures. ‘I have no doubt that two games in the previous season suggest it must have been the same syndicate,’ he said.

Floodlight failures still occur — at Nottingham Forest, Norwich and Kilmarnock this season alone. Power was restored in each of those games, but it would be wise to be wary.

Match-fixing will always be lucrative and even at the highest level there is vigilance: UEFA opened an investigation into the PSG-Red Star Belgrade Champions League match in October. PSG won 6-1. There was an allegation a seven-figure bet had been placed on Red Star losing by five goals.

Rafa Benitez says there is no pressure on him after spending a club-record ÂŁ21million on Miguel Almiron because he was owed the funds from previous transfer windows.

The January outlay on the Paraguay playmaker cancels out the ÂŁ20m profit the Magpies made in the summer.

And Benitez said: ‘After five windows when we are in profit, I do not have any pressure (because of Almiron).’

However, Mike Ashley will be expecting the 25-year-old to deliver after sanctioning the biggest deal of his 12-year ownership. The Atlanta United star was also Benitez’s top target last month.

Almiron is likely to start from the bench at Wolves on Monday, but his manager believes it would not be a gamble were he to figure from the off.

TEAM LINE-UPS

WOLVES (probable, 3-4-1-2): Patricio; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Doherty, Neves, Dendoncker, Jonny; Moutinho; Jimenez, Jota

NEWCASTLE (probable, 5-4-1): Dubravka; Yedlin, Lejeune, Lascelles, Schar, Ritchie; Diame, Hayden, Atsu, Perez; Rondon

‘When you talk with him, he is ready, mentally he is ready and says he wants to play and is available,’ said Benitez, whose side are only out of the bottom three on goal difference.

‘You can see him in training, he is very dynamic, he is always involved, so that is fine. But it is the Premier League and the physicality, you have to cope with that.’

Almiron’s sale also represents a record for MLS, but with that comes an element of the unknown.

‘There are some good players in the MLS,’ added Benitez. ‘At times you have to bring them here to find out how good.

‘But he is different to the players we have. And that is what we were looking for, running in between the lines and behind the defenders, scoring goals and making passes.

‘We know he needs to adapt, so we will see if he is strong enough to do the same thing as he was doing in the MLS, on the ball and without it.’

Benitez has seen a five-point cushion to danger evaporate since their shock win over Manchester City, and he fears their survival effort could go down to the final day of the season.

‘It is very tight and I don’t think it will be easy to see any team going higher quickly and staying safe,’ he said.

‘I think it will go until the end. You see Burnley, they are doing well, and Huddersfield will play without any pressure, they are not a bad team.

‘When you are expected to win a game you are under more pressure and anxiety, and then you make one mistake.

‘Maybe Fulham, the last game, will be the most important. Hopefully not, but you never know. For me, 36 to 38 points should be enough.’

Expat explore : De nouvelles destinations à découvrir

[ad_1]

« Expat Explore gives the opportunity to visit Eastern Europe in a 15 day trip through 7 countries (Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Austria). And the most important things are included such as hotels, transport, breakfast and dinners », dit Carl Cronje.
