Effective since August 1, 2022, France has lifted all Covid-19 restrictions for travellers arriving into the country. Travellers do not have any formalities to complete before arriving into mainland or overseas France, and the COVID certificate is no longer required, irrespective of the country or area of origin.

Also, the proof of compelling reason for travel can no longer be requested. Moreover, travellers no longer need to present a sworn declaration stating that they are not infected with COVID-19 and need not pledge to take an antigen test or biological exam upon arrival into France.

“Faced with the new phase of the pandemic, the border health control system is lifted, in accordance with the law putting an end to the exceptional regimes created to fight against the epidemic linked to covid-19. Since August, the rules previously applied to travellers to France no longer apply,” the statement of the Ministry said.

El Al to Oz

Israeli airline El Al says it plans to launch scheduled flights between Tel Aviv and Melbourne in the coming months, a route made possible following a recent opening of Saudi air space.

Speaking at the Google Tourism Conference in Tel Aviv last week, El Al boss Dina Ben-Tal Ganancia said that the new air space access means it could fly its Boeing 787 Dreamliners on the 15hr route from its hub at Ben Gurion International Airport to Melbourne, marking its first regular foray into Australia.

El Al has been seen in Australian skies before, with three repatriation flights to Melbourne in the early days of the pandemic to help its Jewish diaspora return home. These flights also served as a trial as to ongoing viability of a direct route between the two cities.

“So in that respect, the operational trial is maybe the most important part of this trial, and alongside with the commercial part these three flights should give us a good picture of that aspect”.

Ganancia said that while most of El Al’s Melbourne-based passengers on the three test flights conducted in 2020 ended their journey at Tel Aviv, an on-going scheduled service would realise the city’s role as a connecting hub to the rest of Europe.

“El Al offers many, many destinations in Europe, most of them on a double daily basis, and Ben Gurion Airport has a very smooth connecting process”.

Spare Component Shortages Are Grounding Flights

The post Spare Component Shortages Are Grounding Flights appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily.

According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, several airlines are compelled to ground their flights due to a lack of spare parts for planes.

Lufthansa, Qatar, and Silver Airways are among the airlines experiencing a scarcity of aircraft parts. The airlines are grounding specific aircraft and requesting that their suppliers increase output to meet the demand for aviation parts.

Lufthansa, the largest airline in Germany, is one carrier dealing with component shortages, according to the research, and is sourcing components such as cabin panels from other countries.

Qatar Airways maintains an Airbus A380 superjumbo on standby if its aircraft are grounded due to a shortage of parts. Additionally, the company is flying its aircraft for fewer hours to mitigate engine maintenance delays.

Due to a lack of pilots and luggage handlers, many airlines have already experienced flight cancellations and delays at airports worldwide. This summer, a lack of spare components could cause additional travel disruptions for passengers.

Regional carrier Silver Airways told The Journal that it was “very difficult” to procure parts, so one or two of its about 20 aircraft were grounded. It was stated that one aircraft was grounded for more than a week because it could not procure the required tools.

Manufacturers of aeroplane parts are seeking to increase output in order to avoid delivery delays as summer travel increases. The Journal reported that CFM International is around two months behind schedule with the supply of new engines and is working with its suppliers to expedite deliveries.

Rolls-Royce is also suffering delays but is working with clients to find solutions, while competitor Pratt & Whitney plans to increase engine deliveries by the end of the year.

This summer, airlines have already reduced their flight schedules in response to the disruptions, which have been exacerbated by the pandemic’s effect on travel demand.
