How much a pint costs at every Premier League stadium after fan outrage at West Ham’s £7.30 charge

PINT PRICE ROW: West Ham’s £7.30 pint caused outrage as the most expensive in the league… and it’s Man United’s £3 beer that is the cheapest of all! Here’s how much a pint costs at EVERY Premier League ground

  • West Ham have the most expensive pints of every team in the the top flight
  • The cheapest beer on offer at the London Stadium costs a whopping £7.30
  • Meanwhile, Manchester United provide the cheapest at just £3.00 a pint
  • Several Premier League clubs have committed to a price freeze on alcohol

West Ham fans may have had a lot to cheer about with their seventh-placed Premier League finish last season, but the price of beer and food at the London Stadium heading into the new campaign isn’t likely to bring a smile to many fans’ faces.

At a startling £7.60 for their most expensive a pint of larger, the Hammers have the highest priced drink in the Premier League. Even the cheapest-priced larger at the East London club will set punters back £7.30.

To add insult to injury, the club also tops the league table when it comes to expensive food, with the cheapest pie available costing an eye-watering £6, again higher than any other club in the top flight.

Prices of food and drink at West Ham are not set by the club themselves but instead by external company Delaware North at the London Stadium.

Not all London-based clubs have quite such expensive food and drink prices however, with Crystal Palace charging a comparatively inexpensive £9.50 for a pie and a pint at Selhurst Park.

By comparison, Manchester United offer the cheapest larger prices in the Premier League, with a pint at Old Trafford setting fans back just £3.

Amidst the rising cost of living, a number of clubs have committed to a freeze in prices for consumables, with Man United, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Wolves all maintaining their prices from the 2021-22 season.

Meanwhile, newly-minted Newcastle have actually reduced their pricing, with the cost of a pint now down to £4.80 at St James’ Park.

West Ham are threatening to sue the owners of the London Stadium over current beer prices

West Ham are threatening to sue the owners of the London Stadium over current beer prices

Sportsmail revealed on Thursday that the issue has come to a head in east London with West Ham  threatening to sue the owners of the London Stadium if there is no cut in beer prices before the next home game.

They are willing to go to court to force a price change, citing the Comparable Clubs clause in their catering agreement with the London Stadium.

West Ham have raised the issue with caterers Delaware North who insist they cannot make reductions without London Stadium permission.

West Ham expect the change to be made in time for the visit of Viborg in the UEFA Conference League on August 18 – and have threatened legal action if their contract is not honoured.

St Helena removes quarantine rules for travellers

The post St Helena removes quarantine rules for travellers appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily.

All covid restrictions for visitors to St Helena have been dropped starting this week.

Home to just 4,200 residents and lying almost 2,000km from the south-western coast of Africa, the island has enforced a strict entry policy since the first days of the pandemic due to its limited infrastructure and among the last destinations to relax restrictions on visitors.

St Helena was famously one of the least accessible destinations on the planet until its small airport opened in 2017, previously reached only by a five-day voyage from Cape Town aboard a Royal Mail ship. Now visitors can make use of fortnightly flights from Johannesburg to discover the extraordinary history and pristine natural environment of this little-known island.

Signalling travel recovery, New Zealand welcomes first cruise ship since Covid-19

The post Signalling travel recovery, New Zealand welcomes first cruise ship since Covid-19 appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Travel Daily.

New Zealand has welcomed the first cruise ship to return since the coronavirus pandemic began, signalling a long-sought return to normalcy for the nation’s tourism industry. The country closed its borders in early 2020 as it sought at first to eliminate COVID-19 entirely and then later to control its spread.

Although the country reopened its borders to most tourists arriving by plane in May, it wasn’t until two weeks ago that it lifted all remaining restrictions, including those on maritime arrivals. The end of restrictions allowed Carnival Australia’s CCL, +1.93% Pacific Explorer cruise ship to dock in Auckland with about 2,000 passengers and crew Friday morning as part of a 12-day return trip to Fiji that left from Sydney.

Tourism Minister Stuart Nash said: “It’s another step in the reopening of our borders and a step closer to resuming business as usual.”

Nash said it would take some time for international tourist numbers and revenue to return to their pre-pandemic levels, when the industry accounted for about 20% of New Zealand’s foreign income and more than 5% of GDP.
