Norway 0-3 Turkey: Erling Haaland’s side frustrated by opponents in World Cup qualifier as Ozan Tufan’s double and Caglar Soyuncu header make it a brilliant week for Senol Gunes’s side after beating Holland earlier this week

  • Norway suffered a 3-0 defeat to Turkey in their World Cup qualifier in Malaga
  • Ozan Tufan and Caglar Soyuncu gave Turkey a two-goal half-time lead in Malaga
  • Norway’s Alexander Sorloth hit the post and had a goal ruled out in the first-half
  • Tufan curled home a brilliant third after the half-time break to seal the victory

Erling Haaland and Norway were left crushed by Turkey as an impressive double from Ozan Tufan gave Senol Gunes’ side a 3-0 victory in Malaga.

Turkey, who beat the Netherlands earlier in the week, took the lead after just four minutes as Ozan Tufan swept home a brilliant first-time finish from the edge of the box with his left foot.

Alexander Sorloth had a Norway equaliser ruled out for offside and also hit the post before the Turks’ advantage was doubled as the game reached the half-hour mark.

Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu headed home Yusuf Yazici’s corner at the back post to give Turkey clear daylight between them and their frustrated opponents in the Spanish city.

Haaland and Celtic forward Mohamed Elyounoussi both went close after the break but Tufan made it three with a superb curling effort which put the game beyond doubt.

Norway’s woes were further condemned by another disallowed goal, this time for Haaland, before substitute Kristian Thorstvedt was shown a straight red card for a high and flying challenge on fellow replacement Caner Erkin.
