Thomas Muller tests POSITIVE for Covid-19 and will miss Bayern Munich’s Club World Cup final clash with Tigres… while he is also now a doubt for Champions League clash with Lazio later in the month

Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has tested positive for Covid-19 and will now miss his side’s Club World Cup final against Tigres on Thursday.

According to Sky Germany, the forward’s results came following a test after training on Wednesday ruling him out of the clash in Qatar.

FIFA and Bayern are yet to officially confirm the result, but it is now likely that the positive reading will also see the German forward miss the club’s Champions League clash with Lazio this month.

Although Bayern will still be strong favourites to clinch the title over the Mexican side, the loss of the German is likely to hinder their attack.

Muller is the latest Bayern star to test positive for Covid, with Javi Martinez and Leon Goretzka having also contracted the virus last month.

Both players have since missed the club’s last two Bundesliga games against Hertha Berlin and Hoffenheim, while Martinez also missed out in a previous clash with Schalke as a result of his positive test.

Bayern reported that both players had otherwise reported good health and had been self-isolating at their homes.

As a result neither were selected for Bayern’s squad to travel to Qatar and compete in the Club World Cup.
