Everton teenager Thierry Small has been included in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad to face Sheffield Wednesday tonight.
The 16-year old left-back could become the club’s youngest ever player if introduced during the FA Cup Fourth Round tie at Goodison.
The record is currently held by Jose Baxter, now at Memphis, who made his Everton debut as a substitute against Blackburn Rovers aged 16 years and 191 days in 2008. Small is 15 days younger at 16 years and 176 days.

Everton are keen to reward Small’s progress amid recent interest from Bayern Munich, Juventus and Arsenal, and selection in Ancelotti’s squad should underline the potential pathway is there for him to progress.
Small is athletic and powerful with Ancelotti already acknowledging he has the physical attributes to compete with first team players in training.
He has been at Everton since joining from West Brom as an 11-year old and has been offered a three year contract to head off interest from rival clubs though has yet to sign.
