Harry Kane could MISS Tottenham’s clash with Arsenal this weekend

Jose Mourinho says star man Harry Kane is facing a battle to prove his fitness for Tottenham‘s clash with fierce rivals Arsenal on Sunday – but won’t say what the striker’s injury is.

League leaders Tottenham lock horns with Mikel Arteta’s out of form side as they look to consolidate their place at the summit of the Premier League standings.

‘Harry, Vinicius and Sergio (Reguilon) I believe they have a chance for the weekend,’ Mourinho said, revealing the trio will miss Thursday’s Europa League clash with LASK.

Mourinho was coy over what the specific issue is that might keep Kane out on the sidelines

Mourinho added on Kane: ‘I’m not going to tell you the nature of his injury. I think he has a good chance (of playing against Arsenal).

‘I don’t want to lie, I don’t want to hide anything in relation to is he going to play or no? I think he’s going to play. My feeling is that he’s going to play.’

But the prospect of Kane missing the match would be a major blow for Tottenham as they bid to cement their brilliant start to the season.

Mourinho insisted the Arsenal match will not influence the line-up he selects against LASK. Tottenham head to Austria needing just a point to seal their place in the Europa League knock-out stages.

‘Arsenal doesn’t come into our thinking,’ Mourinho insisted. ‘When you make changes, you make changes based on problems that we had.

Mourinho said he will not pick his Spurs side to play LASK with Arsenal in the back of his mind

‘When we do that, we put trust on the players we have. We don’t weaken the team because the Premier League match is next.

‘The game on Thursday is a very difficult match for us. LASK is fighting for a chance to be qualified. We beat them at home but, because I know them, that game does not reflect them.’

Arteta’s Arsenal side are languishing in 14th in the Premier League table after being beaten 2-1 at home by Wolves at the weekend and for Mourinho, the match gives a chance to heap further misery upon Tottenham’s biggest rivals.
