  • Neymar has under two years left on his current deal that expires in 2022

Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar will make his priority signing a new contract with the French club and will not try and return to Barcelona.

The Brazilian made the switch from the Nou Camp to the French capital back in 2017 for a world record fee of £200million.

And after constant links and talk of a potential return to the LaLiga giants, Neymar is only focused signing a new five-year contract with PSG, according to Foot Mercato.

Neymar has under two years left on his current deal with the Ligue 1 champions with it set to expire in 2022.

The club will want to agree a deal with him sooner rather than later, as the closer to his contract coming to an end the more likely he will be to start talking and gaining interest from other clubs.

Reports suggest that Neymar has already told Parisian management that he wants to extend his deal at the club, despite his previous desire to return to Barcelona.

He told the PSG staff during the quarter-final stage of last year’s Champions League in Lisbon.

The 28-year-old said to the PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi that he wants to sign a five-year contract under the same financial agreement, that sees him earn £32.4million per year.

The club and player have now begun talks with no concrete progress made, as the French side are hoping to still convince Kylian Mbappe to remain at the club, whose contract also runs out in 2022.

Neymar has recently been sidelined until late November after sustaining an injury in PSG’s 2-0 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League.
