Liverpool had a £10million bid for Norwich City left back Jamal Lewis rejected this week

Liverpool had a £10m bid rejected for Norwich’s Jamal Lewis last week and turned to Tsimikas after Norwich insisted they wanted £20m.

Greek international Tsimikas impressed against Wolves in the Europa League on Thursday and Liverpool’s hierarchy held talks with their Greek counterparts to iron out details after the game.

The 24-year-old has been on Leicester’s list for over a year amid increased interest from Chelsea and Manchester City in Ben Chilwell.

The left-back will likely come in as a back-up option for regular starter Andy Robertson

Tsimikas had also drawn enquiries from Tottenham, Everton and Chelsea in recent weeks. Olympiakos have lined up St Etienne’s Miguel Trauco as a replacement.

Meanwhile, Leicester winger Bartosz Kapustka, 23, is close to finalising a permanent deal to Legia Warsaw.
