Seeds have gained a lot of popularity lately due to their beneficial effects on our health.
There’s a huge variety of them on the market and maybe at times we do not know which one is best.
Most seeds have the same properties and are all good as they are rich in minerals, omega-3-fatty acids and dietary fibres. But if you would like my personal opinion, I would advise Flax Seeds and Chia seeds, which I believe have a slight advantage as compared to other seeds due to their content of good fats.
1. Flax seeds / Grain de lin
•High source of omega 3 fatty acids
•28g flax seeds= 6.5g omega-3
•High in fibre
•Can help reduce cholesterol
•Research has shown that daily intake of flax seeds can reduce LDL levels- The bad cholesterol
•Reduce risks of heart disease
•Also reduce blood sugar levels
•Best taken in the form of a powder for enhanced absorption
•Recommendation: 1 tsp per day
2. Chia seeds
•28g chia seeds = 4.9g omega-3-fatty acids
•Reduces inflammation
•Rich in polyphenols
•Reduces blood sugar levels
•Helps to control blood pressure
•Can be taken whole, soaked in water
•Recommendation : 1 Tbsp per day
Seeds are good sources of fibres, plant proteins and antioxydants.
They can be added to salads, yoghurt, cooked pulses, soups or taken with a glass of water.
