It has been a long wait for the 28-year-old but a longer one for his club, who last conquered England’s top flight in 1990.

But fortunately for them the campaign was able to resume, meaning they were able to finish the job.

Salah and his team-mates stayed focused during the enforced break and were able to pick up where they left off, sealing the title last month.

They will lift the trophy following Wednesday’s clash with Chelsea at Anfield and Salah has talked to Adidas about the meaning of the end of the wait for him and his team.

‘How long should you wait for something you want?’ he says in the video, which is part of the Ready For Sport series, marking the world’s return to the game by speaking with some of the greatest athletes as they compete on the world’s stage once again.

‘For me, patience has always been the greatest virtue. We strive to be patient in all things. Especially when it is tested.

‘My new home has been patient for thirty years. And I know they would have waited as long as it takes. Patience always receives the best award. And finally, we don’t have to wait any more.’
