‘My advice to any of those players is to stick around because good things are happening’: Joe Cole tells Wolves stars Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore to stay put and ignore speculation linking them with a move away from Molineux this summer

  • Wolves won 1-0 at Midlands rivals Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday
  • Joe Cole believes Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore should resist leaving the club
  • The former England midfielder says both stars have a bright future at Molineux
  • Fifth-placed Wolves are two points behind Chelsea and two ahead of Man United

Joe Cole has told Wolves‘ star players to stay at the club and pay no attention to rumours linking them with other clubs at the end of the season.

Leander Dendoncker’s second-half strike gave Wanderers their third consecutive win since the Premier League restarted earlier this month with victory at Aston Villa.

Wideman Adama Traore and 18-goal top scorer Raul Jimenez have provided the Premier League’s most prolific partnership with 10 goals between them this season, but Cole believes they should stay at Molineux.

‘My advice to any of those players is to stick around because good things are happening at Wolves,’ the former England international told BT Sport.

‘It comes down to how well they’ve recruited compared to Villa. Those Wolves players are all happy the way they’re playing. My advice is stay at Wolves.’

Newly-crowned champions Liverpool have been strongly linked with 24-year-old Traore, who has scored six goals and provided 10 assists so far this season.

Manchester United and Champions League contenders Juventus are also thought to be keen on Jimenez, valuing the prolific Mexico forward at around £54million.

Wolves are unbeaten in eight matches in the top flight, winning five times since their 2-1 defeat to champions Liverpool on January 23.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have not conceded a Premier League goal for almost seven hours of play and are now only two points behind Chelsea in the final Champions League qualification spot.

Speaking about Jimenez after Wolves beat Bournemouth on Tuesday, Santo said: ‘Since he arrived, he’s been working very hard.

‘He’s a special player because he’s very ambitious. His motivation is to improve.’
